A fan started a petition on Change.com, saying that Madge shouldn't be 'the main and only artist tributing Prince' at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards that's airing on May 22.

AceShowbiz - Many fans were left unhappy when Billboard recently announced that Madonna would play a tribute to Prince at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. One of them then started a petition on Change.org, urging the event's organizers to make some changes to Madge's planned performance.

The fan named Stacey Flygirrl Wilson and thousands of people who've signed the petition agree that Madonna shouldn't be "the main and only artist tributing Prince" at the forthcoming awards show. "He is more than worthy of a better choice as a main performer," Wilson argued. "Please sign and share this petition so that we can get a proper tribute on May 22, 2016. Timing is tight! Spread the word."

In the comment section, some supporters expressed their disagreement over Billboard's current plan to have Madonna pay tribute to Prince. They also suggested the likes of Chaka Khan, Janelle Monae, D'Angelo, Lenny Kravitz and Sheila E. to be the tribute's main performer instead.

Madonna isn't a singer randomly chosen to do the honor, though. She once collaborated with the Purple One on her 1989 album "Like a Prayer". The late singer played the guitar on "Like a Prayer", "Keep It Together" and "Act of Contrition" in addition to appearing together with Madonna on the single "Love Song".

The 2016 Billboard Music Awards is airing live on May 22 with Ciara and Ludacris as co-hosts. Justin Bieber, Pink, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas and Britney Spears are among other names scheduled to take the stage at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
