Is Tom Hiddleston the next Agent 007 a.k.a. James Bond? A British bookmaker has suspended betting on who will be replacing Daniel Craig as the new James Bond after a particularly large bet was placed on the "Thor" actor.

A flurry of bets in recent days made Tom the 2-1 favorite to play James Bond. But after a particularly large wager, his odds plummeted to 1-2 and Coral suspended betting. Coral's rep Nicola McGeady said, "There is no smoke without fire, and following the big gamble on Tom Hiddleston in the last 24 hours, we've had no choice but to pull the plug on the market."

"Earlier in the year there was a gamble on Idris Elba and Damian Lewis, but nothing has come close to the recent gamble on Hiddleston," Nicola added.

The bets came after Tom was reportedly spotted meeting with Bond movie director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli last week.

Tom previously told "The Graham Norton Show" that nobody had spoken to him about the chance to play Agent 007. "The position isn't vacant as far as I'm aware. No-one has talked to me about it," he told Graham Norton, "I think the rumours have come about because in 'The Night Manager' I play a spy and people have made the link."
