Lil Wayne receives Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Keri Hilson is awarded with Best New Artist, and Jamie Foxx shares a prize with T-Pain for Best Collaboration at 2009 BET Awards.

AceShowbiz - Gala ceremony of this year's BET Awards has been kicked off at 7.00 P.M. with stars paying tribute to Michael Jackson. And out of sixteen categories, six winners, one of whom is Lil Wayne, have been unleashed so far. The June 28 show began with a performance from New Edition singing a medley of songs by Jackson Five.

The awards continued with the announcement of its winners. Tyra Banks presented Best Male Artist to NBA star LeBron James, and revealed Weezy as Best Male Hip-Hop Artist. After several performances from the likes of Jamie Foxx, T-Pain, Keri Hilson, Ne-Yo and Soulja Boy, three singers Chaka Khan, Estelle and LeToya Luckett took the stage, announcing Jamie Foxx and T-Pain's duet on single "Blame It" as Best Collaboration. They also revealed Ne-Yo as Best Male R&B Artist.

Taraji P. Henson was the next person announced as the BET winner. She was handed a prize for Best Actress by Zoe Saldana and Michelle Nichols. After giving a trophy to Taraji, Zoe and Michelle continued unveiling Keri Hilson as Best New Artist who beat Kid Cudi, Ryan Leslie, M.I.A. and Jazmine Sullivan.

2009 BET Awards is conducted at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with Jamie Foxx as its host. Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z, The-Dream and many more are lined up to honor Michael Jackson at the event. After the ceremony is wrapped, an after-party will be held and hosted by Queen Latifah.
