Kevin and Tommy learn that their big sis tracked down their mother's mystery man, Brody (guest star Beau Bridges), after Sarah recognizes the guy's voice on the radio. He's actually calling Nora's show to ask about rekindling a long lost love. Sarah discovered that Nick Brody manages a semi-pro baseball team and that he is, in fact, NOT her father. As for Nora, she eventually recognizes the voice on the other end of the line. Oh boy.

Nora heads home to find a big old motorhome blocking her driveway. There's a baseball team bumper sticker on its side. That can only mean one thing. Brody's back! The man is not without his charms, which is why Nora seems to be somewhat flustered around him. Well, more flustered than usual. In fact, Nora tells Brody she had a near-perfect marriage with William. Told ya she was flustered.

Brody makes himself at home cooking up a storm in Nora's kitchen. They reminisce about the good old days. It was a time when Nora was a bit of a baseball fan. That's why Brody nicknamed her "Slugger." It's obvious these two have affection for each other, but Brody promises he doesn't have an agenda. Of course, Nora is skeptical of this when Brody pops into her bedroom while she's sleeping. Relax; it's not what you think. He was simply trying to grab his faithful dog Lily, who had made herself at home cuddling up in Nora's bed.

Paige has a school project in which she's caring for a five-pound bag of flour as if it were her baby. The finely milled wheat-based boy's name is Joaquin. Paige needs Kevin to babysit. Hey, it'll be good practice for when he has to look after Olivia 24/7. Kevin takes his impromptu daddy duty very seriously until it's time to handoff baby Joaquin to his grandmother. Sarah isn't as diligent in her babysitting responsibilities which why she doesn't tell Paige that she lost her little flour child.

Tommy's not particularly happy with his new job. He's considering a move back to Seattle. Rose wouldn't mind, but Sarah is desperate to try to make things work right there in Pasadena. After a little chat with Brody, Tommy announces that he's taking a job as the business manager of a baseball team in Phoenix.

There are gasps all around at Tommy's news and one bone-chilling scream from Paige. She's upset because Brody used her little flour child to bake up some tasty muffins. But Paige is even more traumatized when she hears her mom say Nora got pregnant before she was married. Mother, daughter and grandma eventually talk it all out and all is well once again.

Nora is about to freak out on Brody over the Tommy job thing, but then learns his beloved dog Lily is sick. The vet removes a tumor and the cute pooch survives the surgery. Brody tells Nora that it may be a long night so she should go home. Nah, she'll stick around. They have a heart-to-heart chat where Brody admits he has some regrets about letting her get away. Nora admits that William was certainly not a perfect husband, so she has some regrets, too.

Justin treats Zach, a homeless vet with a head wound he received after he was jumped in a park. The guy's been spending his nights sleeping on benches, so Justin wants to help him get back on his feet. Zach is less-than-receptive to his offer. The guy has anger issues. But it's not enough to scare Justin away. Eventually, Zach comes around and pops by the Walker house where Justin offers him some scrumptious Joaquin muffins.

At the end of a few long, interesting days, Tommy and Rose bid adieu as they begin their new Arizona adventure. Nora also says goodbye to Brody as he pulls his big old RV away from the front of her house. Sarah wonders how things went between her mom and that charming mystery man from her past.

Nora says you never know when it comes to Brody. He's a free spirit. She may never see him again. Then Sarah realizes her mother has a new houseguest. Lily the dog will be staying at the Walker home while she recovers from her surgery. Yeah, we're pretty sure Nora will be seeing Brody again.
