Wine of the Week: 2008 Infinity Red Blend (50% Syrah, 50% Grenache), Central Coast of California - After Kitty's collapse at the beach, we know that this is a make or break moment in her treatment. Something a little more experimental is going to have to be done to beat this disease! There was a make or break time in California's Central Coast in the late 70's and early 80's when the traditional varietals like Cabernet and Merlot were just not as good as their Nor Cal counterparts. Enter the Rhone Rangers, guys like Bob Lindquist of Qupé or John Alban of Alban Wine Company, who decided to plant Syrah, Grenache, and other Rhone varietals in the cool climates of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. Thanks to them we are enjoying some of California's greatest wines from a region that was saved by a little experimental thinking.

Kitty's collapse at the beach was caused by a clot in her lung. Medicine has cleared it, but there's still the issue of her tumors. Her best option is a bone marrow transplant. There are many risks. But if all goes well, Kitty could be cancer-free. They just have to find a marrow match. It's a good thing Nora had so many kids.

Holly tells Ryan that the Coastal Reserve wine spill was not an accident. The valves on the tanks had been tampered with. Security footage shows Ryan entering the building during the time of the spill. Holly gives him a chance to come clean, but Ryan denies doing any wrongdoing. Deny it all you want, kid. We know the scoop.

Kitty wants Sarah to fetch a shoebox from her house. It's full of letters from an older politician with whom she had a relationship with shortly after graduating college. She doesn't want Robert to ever see them should anything happen during her bone marrow procedure. So, who could possibly be the author of those notes?

No one is a match for Kitty's bone marrow. But hope is not lost. Ryan has yet to be tested. Unfortunately, the family thinks he may have skipped town after his confrontation with Holly. But the kid's still around and trying to get the slimy Dennis York to slide him some getaway cash. Before that can happen, a police officer shows up at his door. Ryan thinks he's going to jail. Actually, he's headed for the hospital.

An investigator Kevin hired reveals that Robert has been making biweekly visits to a house in Westwood. The investigator produces pictures of Robert with a woman. Kevin confronts his brother-in-law about this and the two of them get into a scuffle. Robert ultimately admits that he IS seeing a woman in Westwood. She's a psychiatrist who's been helping him deal with Kitty's illness. Whoops.

Sarah arrives back at the hospital with Kitty's letters. It seems the guy who wrote them was pretty darn famous. This is too much for Sarah. She has to know who it is. Frankly, we're pretty curious, too. But then Nora storms in with some distractingly great news. Ryan is a match! As a nurse whisks Kitty away in a wheelchair, Sarah can't help but take a peek at one of the letters. A shocked look engulfs her face. Oh, come on! Who is it?!

Robert manages to push the fear of Kitty's bone marrow procedure aside long enough to make a romantic gesture that gives us all a little lump in the throat. He gets down on one knee, hands Kitty a few flowers and says, "Will you marry me all over again?" An overwhelmed Kitty says yes. The moment gets even more emotional when Rebecca brings Evan by to see his mom. With tears streaming down her face, Kitty says, "Oh, Robert, what if I never see him again?" She's so scared. We are, too.

Nora stops by Ryan's place to tell him he's a match. But the boy is busy packing up his things to head out of town. It finally dawns on Nora that this is about William. Nora's husband used Ryan's mother and she killed herself because of him. The boy just has so much anger inside him. Even Nora's most desperate pleas can't stop Ryan from walking out the door.

Back at the hospital, Nora and Saul contemplate their next move. But someone has made it for them. Ryan steps into the hospital. He couldn't let Evan grow up without his mother. The operation is back on, and so is that second wedding. Saul oversees the exchanging of the vows as the family watches. It's a wonderful moment but that "until death do us part" line leaves everyone a little shaken.

The feeling doesn't last long. During a press conference, Robert announces that his wife's bone marrow transplant was a success and Kitty's cancer is in remission. He also announces that he is withdrawing from the race for governor. Everyone in the family is shocked. Everyone but Kitty.

Later, the infamous box of letters is on a table in front of Kitty as she sits by a warm fire. She tells her mom that it's as if those letters were written about somebody else. Yes, she's a different person now. She has been given a second chance at life. When Nora leaves, Kitty starts popping the letters into the fire. We understand. Those notes were all in her past. This is Kitty's time to embrace a present which now holds a much brighter future. That's a wonderful thing, but we're still dying to know just who wrote those letters.
