Wine of the week: 2006 Casa Barranca Bungalow Red, Santa Barbara County - The wedding day has finally arrived, and inherent in a wedding is the coming together of two separate families (as interconnected as they already are) into one. Blending wine is the same. When you put the different pieces together you marry them indefinitely to each other to complement one another, and hopefully create something that is greater than the sum of its parts. Such is the case with this week's selection. A blend of 72% Syrah, 16% Mourvèdre, and 12% Grenache this spicy gem from Santa Barbara shines, and like a gathering of the walkers, even if you know the pieces, the outcome is usually a surprise...

A Hawaiian hurricane throws a monkey wrench into all wedding plans. Justin admits to Saul that he's actually a little relieved they have to postpone the wedding. But Rebecca doesn't want to change the date, just the location. She still wants a beach wedding, but now it'll in Malibu. The family shifts into emergency party planning mode. Everyone is psyched to make this work. Everyone except the groom-to-be.

At an AA meeting, Justin admits that he's not ready to be a father. He's not even sure he's ready to get married. It's hard to remain anonymous at these meetings when someone you know is sitting in the back of the room. Like say, your future father-in-law. David tells Justin he had better figure things out FAST.

Now that the wedding is closer to home, Nora asks Simon if he'd like to go. He would love it, but he's headed to Portland to get investors to fund local businesses in poor foreign areas. He says his part is purely philanthropic but his investors often profit from the interest. Nora like the sound of that and offers to invest. Looks like Simon won't have to go to Portland after Nora cuts him a sizable check.

Tommy comes back to town for the wedding with Elizabeth. Kevin discovers that he took his daughter out of state without telling Julia. That's a violation of their custody agreement. Kevin believes Elizabeth will blab about the great time she had at grandma's house, so he calls Julia in a preemptive strike. He manages to talk Julia out of doing anything litigious, but now Tommy is totally ticked at Kevin. Seems like old times.

Robert worries about his wife's upcoming MRI while Kitty worries about her hubby's MIA status on the campaign trail. After the test, Kitty gets a call in which she learns the tumors didn't respond to the chemotherapy. In fact, there's been some noticeable growth. Kitty lies and says they won't know the results until Monday and convinces her husband to go to D.C. to get some political support for himself.

As the wedding draws ever near, Justin becomes ever more unraveled. He finally spills his true feelings to Rebecca. He's flunking out of med school and feels she put him in an impossible situation with the wedding and the baby. After this rant, we sure hope Justin isn't writing his own wedding vows.

Kevin's preemptive strike with Julia didn't quite stick, as she shows up at Nora's to take her daughter home. Things go from bad to worse. When Justin is late for the rehearsal dinner, Rebecca thinks she knows why. She breaks the news to the family that Justin doesn't want to get married and calls off the wedding. Meanwhile, Scotty tells Julia that maybe it's time to forgive Tommy.

It's true that Justin is feeling overwhelmed, but another incident keeps him away from Rebecca. A little boy is hit by a car while riding his bike and our favorite flunking med school student springs into action to help. When Justin finally sees Rebecca, she notices the blood on his shirt and he explains about the accident. Justin realizes that he has no trouble taking care of other people. The only person he can't take care of is himself.

Justin can't promise that he won't ever doubt himself in the future, but he does know that he will never doubt what they have with each other. He knows he can be a good father. He also knows he can be a good husband, if Rebecca will still marry him. We're happy to report that the wedding is back on!

Hours before the ceremony, Nora gets a call from Simon who says he will have to go away on business after all. Anyone else worried that motorcycle man is skipping town after getting a fat Walker family check? By the look on Nora's face, we're thinking she's having more than a few doubts.

At the beach, the wedding hasn't even started and we already have tears in our eyes when Tommy turns to see Kevin and Scotty walking his daughter toward him. Rebecca is a beautiful bride and Justin looks remarkably relaxed as the handsome groom. Everyone smiles as Kitty begins the ceremony by reading a poem. But she struggles to continue. Then, she collapses onto the sand. The entire family rushes to her. Kitty is unconscious. Even worse, she's not breathing. At this point, neither are we.
