The British singer's relationship with by Roc Nation is 'irrevocably damaged' after the company started to shift its focus to sports management and other endeavors.

AceShowbiz - Rita Ora feels abandoned as Jay-Z is expanding his Roc Nation empire, so she's suing the company. According to Billboard, the British singer filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, December 17, claiming that the label left her "orphaned" when it started to shift its focus to sports management and other endeavors.

"When Rita signed, Roc Nation and its senior executives were very involved with her as an artist," her complaint reads. "As Roc Nation's interests diversified, there were fewer resources available and the company suffered a revolving door of executives. Rita's remaining supporters at the label left or moved on to other activities, to the point where she no longer had a relationship with anyone at the company."

Ora was signed to Rock Nation in 2008, when she was 18. She released her debut album "Ora" in the U.K. in 2012 and has been trying, but failing, to put out a full-length project in the U.S. The 25-year-old who now lives in California cites the state's Labor Code Section 2855, which is better known as "seven-year rule," in attempt to get out of her contract with the label.

In her complaint, Ora also mentions that she's been "self-funding her promotional television appearances, recording costs and video projects" after she was left at Sony when Roc Nation switched its distribution partners from Sony to Universal.

"Rita's relationship with Roc Nation is irrevocably damaged," the complaint further states. "Fortunately for Rita, the California legislature had the foresight to protect its artists from the sorts of vicissitudes she's experienced with Roc Nation."
