Columbia Pictures has dropped a new trailer for Will Smith's drama "Concussion (2015)". The film centers on a doctor embarking on a mission to unveil the truth about a terrible brain trauma that strikes an NFL football player.

Smith stars as Dr. Bennet Omalu, a brilliant forensic neuropathologist who discovers that the football-related brain trauma can result in death. The trailer shares some new footage which shows Omalu's efforts to reveal the truth that is covered up by the NFL.

According to the official synopsis, Dr. Omalu fights "to bring awareness to the public. In his search for the truth behind the devastating malady, Omalu's quest humanizes the price paid by professional athletes in impact sports but also by people who challenge the status quo as it exposes the political, cultural and corporate interests that fuel the business of sports."

Many have said that the movie may antagonize the NFL and become a controversial film. Director writer Peter Landesman recently spoke up to defend the movie. "This is not a movie that is intended to take down the NFL or destroy football. I love football. I played it, into two years of college," Landesman said. "This is a move that all audiences can watch, enjoy, learn from, but also be mesmerized by what I think is actually a ground-breaking performance, maybe the best performance Will Smith has ever given."

Alec Baldwin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Albert Brooks, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and David Morse also star in the movie which is slated for a release in North America on December 25.
