Hugh Jackman Says He'd 'Seriously Consider' Playing the Next James Bond
Movie

After previously turning down the role, the Wolverine actor is now interested in taking over the 007 from Daniel Craig.

AceShowbiz - Hugh Jackman reveals he was once offered the coveted role of James Bond but he turned it down back then. Now the Australian actor says he would 'seriously consider' playing the new 007 if Daniel Craig decides to retire from the franchise.

"I sort of was already asked just before Daniel Craig took over," he spilled on Aussie TV show "The Project". "At the time, I was just about to do X-Men 2, and I was like, 'Ah, I don't think it's the right time.' " He added, "But it was not an easy one to give up."

Daniel Craig will soon return as James Bond in the upcoming installment, "Spectre". He recently hinted that the next movie might be his last as 007. Although nothing has been set in stone, Idris Elba has been linked to the project.

Former Bond, Roger Moore, didn't seem too keen with the idea as he said, "I think [Bond] should be 'English-English.' Nevertheless, it's an interesting idea, but unrealistic." He later clarified that his comments were taken out of context.

Anthony Horowitz, who wrote the latest 007 novel, also caused a stir for calling Elba "too street" to be the new Bond. He later apologized, "Clumsily, I chose the word 'street' as Elba's gritty portrayal of DCI John Luther was in my mind but I admit it was a poor choice of word. I am mortified to have caused offence."

Hugh Jackman himself will soon star as Captain Blackbeard in "Pan". He is also set to reprise his superhero role in "The Wolverine 3". It's expected to be his last appearance as the X-Men clawed mutant.
