"Dungeons & Dragons" movie is officially in the works at Warner Bros. The studio announced the project on Monday, August 3 after WB, Hasbro's Allspark Pictures and Sweetpea Entertainment had come to an undisclosed agreement to end lawsuit over who owned the right to the fantasy game.

Roy Lee ("The Lego Movie", "How to Train Your Dragon") will produce the project alongside Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis, Sweetpea Entertainment's Courtney Solomon and Allan Zeman. David Leslie Johnson ("The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist", "Wrath of the Titans") wrote the screenplay set in the "D&D" fantasy world of Forgoten Realms.

Greg Silverman, president of creative development and worldwide production at Warner Bros. Pictures, said in a statement, "We are so excited about bringing the world of 'Dungeons & Dragons' to life on the big screen. This is far and away the most well-known brand in fantasy, which is the genre that drives the most passionate film followings. 'D&D' has endless creative possibilities, giving our filmmakers immense opportunities to delight and thrill both fans and moviegoers new to the property."

Courtney Solomon added, "We are thrilled that this beloved property can finally make its way to the big screen after 20 years, and that it can be realized by Warner Bros., which has been responsible for the biggest fantasy franchises over the past two decades."

Maura Wogan and Jeremy Goldman of Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz who acted as lead counsel for Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast said of the lawsuit settlement, "This settlement accomplished our overarching goal of unifying all 'Dungeons & Dragons' rights under Hasbro's control, paving the way to make a blockbuster film. It's a great outcome for those involved - especially 'Dungeons & Dragons' fans who will now get to see 'D&D' on the big screen."
