Swift's mother Andrea, who's recently diagnosed with cancer, accepted the award and gave a speech about her daughter's journey to where she is now.

AceShowbiz - The 50th annual Academy of Country Music Awards continues. After winning Song of the Year for her single "Automatic" earlier in the night, Miranda Lambert performed "Mama's Broken Heart" and "Little Red Wagon". She was introduced by Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, whose film "Hot Pursuit" will feature a song by her.

Afterwards, Alabama hit the stage to announce the winner of Vocal Group of the Year. The award eventually went to Little Big Town, who bested other big names like Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry and Zac Brown Band.

After Jason Aldean tackled a medley of his songs including "Tonight Looks Good on You", "My Kinda Party", "Hicktown" and "Country Girl", Kelly Clarkson introduced her mother-in-law Reba McEntire who also sang a medley of her own songs.

Next, it's Taylor Swift's moment. The former country sweetheart was one of those honored with ACM's Milestone Award for being the youngest Entertainer of the Year winner (she was 21 when winning the title). A full video montage of Swift was played and her mother Andrea appeared on the stage to accept the trophy.

The proud mother, who's recently diagnosed with cancer, took the mic to give a touching speech about her daughter's journey to where she is now. "I've seen [music] carry her through every emotion... good or bad," she said. "For many years I was her constant companion. I witnessed a girl with very few friends become one with many, learning to stand up for the things she believes in. Being brave enough to explore her musical curiosity... Giving herself to those in need."

"I am a very proud mom," she concluded. "I thank the entire music community for taking such good care of her. And to the fans, I know you love her as I love her. And for that, I thank you eternally."
