FOX to Bring Back 'In Living Color' With Two Specials


Keenen Ivory Wayans, who created and starred in the original series, will host and executive produce the two half-hour specials that air in midseason.

FOX and Keenen Ivory Wayans are teaming up to revive "In Living Color". The network has announced that it orders two half-hour specials of the 1990s sketch comedy series with Wayans, who starred in and produced the original show, serving as the host and executive producer.

The specials will air in spring 2012 as part of FOX's 25th anniversary celebration. Despite Wayans' involvement, the specials will feature fresh faces in the sketches with special guests coming for musical performances.

Should the specials be successful, the network will include "In Living Color" reboot as a regular series next season.

"In Living Color" was debuted in 1990 and broke stereotypes by employing a cast of mostly black comedians and introducing hip-hop and dancing to mainstream television. It helped launch the careers of such actors as Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx and David Alan Grier. It ended its run in 1994 after five seasons.
