On September 13 during the opening set of MTV Video Music Awards, Janet Jackson will pay homage to Michael Jackson.

AceShowbiz - Janet Jackson has just been confirmed to make a live appearance at this year's MTV Video Music Awards. The singer is recruited as an opening act for the September 13 show and will pay tribute to her brother Michael Jackson during the set.

MTV has confirmed that the tribute is choreographed by Frank Gaston. While the network doesn't reveal further about the details of the homage, TMZ reports it will feature 20 back-up dancers. According to one of the dancers Kriyss Grant, rehearsals for the forthcoming performance have lasted as long as 15 hours a day. "There won't be a dry eye in the house," he said.

The 26th Annual MTV Video Music Awards will take place at Radio City Music Hall and is going to be hosted by British comedian and actor Russell Brand. Its confirmed performers include Beyonce Knowles, Taylor Swift, Muse, Green Day, Pink and Lady GaGa. As for its house band, Wale and UCB are recruited for the duty.

Other celebrities who will attend the annual event are "Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart. They will be present at the awards to unveil an extended trailer for the second installment of the movie, "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". The "Twilight" fans will also be treated with the debut of the film's soundtrack, Death Cab for Cutie's "Meet Me in the Equinox".
