'Dark Knight' Soundtrack Coming Out in 4 Different Formats

On Thursday, May 29, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that the soundtrack album of 'The Dark Knight' is coming out on July 15 in four distinct configurations.

AceShowbiz - Opposite to what has been reported earlier by many online publications, the soundtrack of the highly anticipated superhero flick "The Dark Knight" will come out later than July 1. The claimed-to-be haunting score will be available in stores nationwide on July 15 which is three days prior to the theatrical debut of the follow-up to 2005's "Batman Begins".

The album will contain original scores from composers Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, who have collaborated on producing the soundtrack of "Batman Begins". The orchestral soundtrack have been recorded in London in April 2008. Giving a unique experience, Warner Bros. Pictures will release the set in four distinct formats, that is a standard jewel case CD, a 2 LP set of heavy-weight 180 gram vinyl version, a special edition digipack, and a collector's edition with special artwork.

Both Zimmer and Howard are distinguish composers in the film industry. They each have given birth to more than 100 film and television theme songs and are well-recognized with notable awards attached to their works. Zimmer has won an Academy Award for "The Lion King" score and gathered six additional Oscar nominations for "Gladiator", "The Thin Red Line", "Rain Man", "As Good as It Gets", "The Preacher's Wife" and "The Prince of Egypt", whereas Howard has collected seven Academy Award nominations, including for "The Prince of Tides", "The Fugitive", "My Best Friend's Wedding", "The Village" and "Michael Clayton".

About the film itself, "Dark Knight" which brings back Christian Bale as the favorite superhero will follow Batman as he continues his attempt to bring justice and solace to Gotham City. Joining forces with Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, he then sets out on his war on crime. But, somewhere in the dark, Batman's toughest enemy, Joker, has planned out to break the bat-themed costumed superhero. Directed by Christopher Nolan and supported by Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal, the action flick will be blasting its way to the silver screen on July 18.
