May 16, 2007 03:05:36Noticing the current heavy flow of big screen titles adapted from comic books, Rotten Tomatoes, website devoted to reviews, information, and news of movies, has ranked all the ninety-four movies of the kind and compiled Rotten Tomatoes' Comix Worst to Best, a list rating the worst adaptations to the best.
On the top of the chart, the site casts its choice on the 2004 blockbuster "Spider-Man 2", Sam Raimi's second installment of the web-slinger's hit tale, while picking up other 2000s releases of "American Splendor" (2003) and "Ghost World" (2001) as the first and second runner-up, respectively.

The 2006 MTV Movie Awards Frontrunners
June 05, 2006 12:06:00The 2006 MTV Movie Awards show, held on Saturday June 3rd on a soundstage at Sony Studios, celebrated the big winning of last summer's "Wedding Crashers" which at that time collected three trophies all at once, including the coveted Golden Popcorn for Best Movie.
In addition to that, the flick also brought winning to Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson who both shared the Best On-Screen Team honor, and that for Isla Fisher who won the Breakthrough Performance award. Just behind "Wedding Crashers" there came "Brokeback Mountain" which brought Jake Gyllenhaal to double winning mainly for Best Performance category and Best Kiss which he shared with Heath Ledger.

Nominees of the 2006 Empire Magazine Film Awards
March 03, 2006 04:03:18Being shunned at Academy Awards, "King Kong" delightfully shines at another event as the movie made its way to lead the nominations for Empire Magazine's 2006 Film Awards, securing five nods with its stars, Andy Serkis and Naomi Watts, each scored nomination in Best Actor and Actress categories. Came behind the great ape flick were "Pride and Prejudice", "Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit", and "Crash" which all garnered four nominations, the latter being one of other four competitors of "King Kong" in Best Film category.
Meanwhile, other big screen productions which have been included in the nominees' list were among others "Batman Begins" for Best Thriller, "Wedding Crashers" for Best Comedy, and "Land of the Dead" for Best Horror Movie. As for the movie stars, names like Christian Bale, Matt Dillon, Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, plus Thandie Newton also appeared on list. The Comeback of the Heroes, Batman & Superman
February 24, 2006 04:02:05Intended to repeat the success of the two previous films, Warner Bros. Pictures has had the great idea in mind. The studio is planning to release the next installments to "Batman Begins" and "Superman Returns" and is working on the deal with several related persons who might be tapped to work on the two big projects.
While deal with Christopher Nolan and Bryan Singer has yet reached, WB has hired Jonathan Nolan to write the screenplay for the untitled "Batman" project. The studio, moreover, has options on Christian Bale and Brandon Routh to star in. While there hasn't further confirmation on the report you better keep it here.

Leading the pack is "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" which is up for 10 nominations. Following close behind is "Batman Begins" with nine nominations, while "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" receive 8 nominations each.
"Revenge" ups for the categories of Best Science Fiction Film, Best Actor for Hayden Christensen, Best Actress for Natalie Portman, Best Supporting Actor for Ian McDiarmid, Best Direction and Best Writing for George Lucas, Best Music, Best Costume, Best Make-Up, and Best Special Effects. "Narnia" on the other hand is nominated for Best Fantasy Film, Best Actress for Tilda Swinton, Best Performance By A Younger Actor for William Moseley, Best Direction, Best Writing, Best Costume, Best Make-Up, and Best Special Effects.

AAFCA's Top 10 Films of the Year

Also included in the list were "The Constant Gardener", "Good Night And Good Luck", "Brokeback Mountain", "Syriana", "Walk the Line", "Hustle & Flow", "Capote", "Batman Begins", and "North Country."

Films Competing for the FX Oscar
December 19, 2005 01:12:15The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has on Dec 16 announced the 7th films competing for Achievement in Visual Effects for the 78th Academy Awards. Among those are "Batman Begins," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe," "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," "King Kong," "Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith," and "War of the Worlds."
Those seven films will have their fifteen-minute clip reels screened for the Visual Effects Award Nominating Committee on Wednesday, January 25, 2006. Members will then vote to decide three out of the 7th films for Oscar consideration.

Batman Begins Named the Favourite Movie of 2005

Apparently, nearly 15,000 film fans voted the action flick, tentatively titled "Batman Begins," as the Favorite Movie of 2005. Securing the top spot of the poll held by Total Film magazine, 'Batman' beats the like of "Sin City" and "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith." The magazine's deputy editor claims 'Batman' as "a smart but funny reinvention" and "excellently directed."
Other award went to actor Mickey Rourke who was voted Man of the Year for his portrayal in cult movie "Sin City." In the meantime, Ian McDiarmid, who played Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in 'Revenge of the Sith,' has been named Best Movie Villain. "War of the Worlds" star Dakota Fanning was named Best Child Actor.

Hollywood Movie Award Goes to "Star Wars III"

The film of George Lucas has been named Hollywood Movie of the Year with the movie director set to receive the award at the Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on October 24.
To note, the "Hollywood Movie of the Year Awards" winner is chosen by the public voting online for their favorite movies at the Yahoo Movies (movies.yahoo.com) and "Entertainment Tonight" (ETonline.com) websites. From over 20 million impressions with more than 70,000 voters, "Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" received nearly one-third of the votes cast.

"Batman" Dominates U.S. Box Office

Taking in an estimate of $26.8 million, the movie overwhelmed the top U.S. box office charts for its second week in a row. Under the Warner Bros. Pictures' is Columbia Pictures' update of the 1960s TV series, "Bewitched," opened at No. 2 with $20.2 million. "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," a crime thriller starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, slipped one place to No. 3 with $16.8 million.
Two other movies rounded out the top five are "Herbie: Fully Loaded," which earned $12.8 million for the weekend and the zombie horror "Land of the Dead" followed at No. 5 with $10.2 million for the three days. The other five, becoming the top 10, including "Madagascar," $7.4 million; "Star Wars: Episode III--Revenge of the Sith," $6.1 million; "The Longest Yard," $5.5 million; "The Adventures of Shark Boy & Lava Girl in 3-D," $3.5 million; and "Cinderella Man," $3.4 million.

Moreover, with an estimated total earning of $41.7 million from 73 international markets, led by Britain with $7.8 million and France with $3 million, both in only three days, "Batman" easily kicks last week champ's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," to No. 2 with $27.3 million.
"Madagascar," which is DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc.'s animal cartoon, is No. 3 with $11.1 million in its fourth weekend, while Fox's "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" is No. 4 with $9.7 million.
