AceShowbiz - Zelda Williams set the record straight about her late father Robin Williams on the 10th anniversary of the actor's death. In a Sunday, August 11 post on her X account, Zelda refuted claims that he had a pet monkey.
In her post, Zelda reshared a photo of the "Night at the Museum" star posing with a monkey on his shoulder. The original poster wrote in the caption, "One of the last photos of a gem of a man, with his pet monkey, taken a few days before he committed suicide by hanging at the age of 63."
In her own post, Zelda wrote, "It's been brought to my attention some probably AI written BS like this is going viral. Dad didn't own a pet monkey, NO ONE should, and if you're ever tempted to, support your local exotic animal rescues instead."
"That is his Night at the Museum costar, who now lives at one," she then confirmed, referring to Crystal the monkey who played Dexter in the "Night at the Museum" franchise. Zelda further noted that the photo of her father "is a real picture," adding, "It’s just not the last picture."
In a separate post, Zelda added, "And since more completely false or badly researched posts are likely to go viral on Dad's death anniversary, maybe just assume they're all BS (they usually are). Ignore the creepy robots trying to farm your clicks & do something nice for yourself instead. I sure as hell will."
Meanwhile, Robin's son Zak Williams shared a touching tribute on his 10th anniversary of his death. "Dad, it's hard to believe it's been 10 years," he began his caption beneath a photo of Robin as Mork from the comedy series "Mork & Mindy". "Today, I'm reflecting on the immense love you shared with all of us-your family, your friends, and everyone you met."
Zak continued, expressing how Robin inspires him daily to create a more loving and connected world. He added, "You continue to inspire me every single day to do whatever I can to help create a more connected and loving world for our family."
Robin died by suicide on August 11, 2014, at the age of 63. Zak previously shared that his father placed a high priority on his well-being and mental health.
