Dominic Foppoli steps down from his position as the Mayor of Windsor despite his denial of any wrongdoing after the former 'Teen Mom' star and 8 other women made sexual abuse and assault claims against him.

AceShowbiz - A California mayor has been forced to resign following sexual misconduct allegations by nine women, including former reality TV star Farrah Abraham. Dominic Foppoli announced his resignation as the Mayor of Windsor, California on Friday, May 21 despite denying the accusations.

"It is with a heavy heart that I am resigning, effective today," Dominic said in a statement to multiple news outlets. "I have always and will always maintain that I did not engage in any non-consensual sexual acts with any woman."

Dominic has not been charged with a crime, but Palm Beach Police have confirmed that there's "an open and active criminal investigation" into the allegations of sexual misconduct, which ranges from alleged rape to unwanted exposure. "However, we are unable to disclose the nature of the investigation, the nature of his involvement, or other details at this time in order to preserve the integrity of the active and ongoing investigation," a spokesperson for the Palm Beach Police Department said.

Farrah herself filed a police report in Palm Beach in early April, claiming that the 39-year-old politician assaulted her while they were both visiting the area in March. Spencer Kuvin, an attorney for Abraham, told PEOPLE, "We are glad that the former mayor is starting to feel some of the repercussions of his actions. We are hopeful that the police finish their investigation and turn this matter over to the State Attorneys office so that Mr. Foppoli can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Her attorney previously told The San Francisco Chronicle on Friday that his client has "physical proof" of the supposed "sexual battery." The lawyer added, "This is not a 'he said, she said' situation. ... We believe it is in felony territory."

In response to Farrah's allegations, Dominic said in a statement without naming the reality TV star, "I recently learned that a woman in Palm Beach, Florida is accusing me of non-consensual acts while I was visiting there in March of this year. She made her allegations after she learned of the April 8, 2021 San Francisco Chronicle story. I have no doubt she is making these allegations in an attempt to leverage the situation to her advantage."
