In the Semi Finals of the show's season 28, the remaining couples take the ballroom to perform twice as they perform a redemption dance before dancing a routine they've never performed before.

AceShowbiz - "Dancing with the Stars" season 28 returned on Monday, November 18 to air its long-anticipated Semi-Finals. That night, the remaining couples took the ballroom to perform twice as they did a redemption dance before dancing a routine they've never performed before.

First up were Lauren Alaina and her pro dancer partner Gleb Savchenko, dancing their redemption dance which was the Paso Doble to "Stronger" by Kelly Clarkson. Mentored by judge Len Goodman, the pair offered a fierce performance which featured a huge improvement from the first time they did it. Bruno Tonioli said she did a great job despite one mistake. The judges gave Lauren a 27 out of 30.

The next performers were Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson who danced the Tango to The Temptations' "Get Ready" as their redemption dance. Bruno helped them as mentor judge. Carrie Ann Inaba said that Kel had come the farthest this season of all the contestants and always took the criticism. As for Len, he liked the intensity. Kel earned 27 points for the routine.

As for Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber, who was mentored by Len, they danced the Viennese Waltz to "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran for their redemption dance. It was such an emotional performance that Ally cried at the end of the routine. Len said it had "lovely gentleness" while Bruno praised them by saying that they were a "joy to watch." Ally got 29 points!

Dancing rumba to "Dancing With a Stranger" by Sam Smith & Normani Kordei as their redemption dance were Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten. The pair got help from Carrie Ann, though they had tension during rehearsal. She apologized to Carrie Ann after performing the sensual routine. She was given 27 points by the judges.

James Van Der Beek and Emma Slater, meanwhile, danced Cha-Cha to "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai for their redemption dance with Len mentoring them. The judges noticed that it wasn't his best peformance with Carrie Ann criticizing his posture and saying that she'd hate to see him "lose it over small little details." James got a 24.

For the second performance, Lauren and Gleb opted for the Viennese Waltz to "Humble and Kind" by Tim McGraw. "So sophisticated, so classic, but what I like is the chemistry, it was sizzling, a dream couple," Bruno raved, while Carrie Ann said, "You both did dance as one, but not one dimension, so many dimensions into one." Lauren earned additional 27 points, bringing her total score to a 54.

Next up were Kel and Witney who danced a Contemporary to "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. All the judges loved the routine so much that they gave them a standing ovation. Kel got a perfect score which made his total score for the night 57 points.

Dancing Charleston were Ally and Sasha. "If your goal was to prove that were supposed to be in the finals consider it done, done, done. What a showstopper, so in synch and so much fun," Carrie Ann commented on the performance. Ally also earned a perfect score, and her total score was 59 points.

As for James, he shared that his wife Kimberly encouraged him to perform even though they just lost their baby. He and Emma hit the ballroom to dance the Foxtrot to "Take Me to Church" by Hozier. "You put so much heart into that dance, it was almost impossible to watch because we were with you. You gave some special flow, wonderful turns, and great lines," said Bruno. With additional 27 points, James' total score became 51 points.

Concluding the night were Hannah and Alan. They danced the Contemporary to "Lose You to Love Me" by Selena Gomez. "Normally I am not a big fan of Contemporary, but I must say I thought the emotion came out and it was a true couple dance," Len gushed. Hannah was given a 27 that added up to her previous score, bringing her total score to 54 points.

Now it was time to announce the results. Kel and Hannah were sent to the finals with Lauren joining them. That left James and Ally in the final bottom and the judges could only save one of them.

Carrie Ann chose to save Ally and Bruno also did so. That meant James was eliminated.
