Attending the TrevorLIVE New York Gala to receive the Hero Award, the model and actress thanks the former 'Pretty Little Liars' star for being 'one of the people who helped me love myself.'

AceShowbiz - Cara Delevingne has no regrets about going public with her romance with Ashley Benson, insisting it was the perfect time to reveal the relationship.

The 26-year-old actress and model attended the TrevorLIVE New York Gala on Monday night, June 17, alongside her former "Pretty Little Liars" star beau. The evening came after the pair went Instagram official with their romance, with a steamy clip of themselves kissing from their movie "Her Smell".

And reflecting on why they decided to make such a public gesture, after months of trying to keep the relationship after wraps, Cara told E! News: "I don't know because it is Pride, it's been 50 years since Stonewall happened and I don't know. It's been just about our one year anniversary so, why not?"

Asked by the outlet if they were girlfriends, Cara replied: "Sure, I don't like the official thing, but it's a little something."

Cara was honoured at the gala with the Hero Award, and thanked American actress Ashley in her sweet acceptance speech, where she also revealed her cute nickname for her other half.

"I also have another very special woman in this room to thank and you know who you are," she said. "She's one of the people who helped me love myself when I need it most and I really needed it. She showed me what real love is and showed me how to accept it, which was a lot harder than I thought. I love you, Sprinkles."

The couple, who met last year on the set of the musical drama co-starring Elisabeth Moss, first sparked romance rumours last August, when they left Kylie Jenner's birthday party together, and fuelled speculation when they were photographed kissing at an airport in London a few days later.
