AceShowbiz - Supermodel Cara Delevingne, 32, clarified her commitment to sobriety after sharing Instagram photos where she posed with champagne for this year's spooky season. "I love gay Halloween!" she declared.
The photos depicted Delevingne and "Mean Girls" star Renee Rapp, 24, recreating an iconic 2003 moment from the New York City premiere of "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle." In this reenactment, Delevingne dressed as Cameron Diaz while Rapp portrayed Drew Barrymore.
Delevingne, who started her sobriety journey in 2022, addressed concerns from fans questioning her sobriety. In response to a comment saying, "I thought you were working on your sobriety," Delevingne simply replied, "I am still sober."
In the caption, she also reiterated her stance with the hashtag #stillsober, despite having a glass of champagne in her hand to celebrate Halloween.
The Instagram post featured Delevingne in a one-shoulder, dark purple dress with silver strappy heels, her hair straight past her shoulders - a mirror image of Diaz's iconic look. Rapp complemented the aesthetic by sporting low-waisted black leather pants and a gray printed shirt akin to Barrymore's outfit from the 2003 event.
The dynamic duo was spotted strolling the streets of West Hollywood, with Delevingne holding a champagne glass and Rapp carrying the bottle. Their festive itinerary included a stop at a Sunset Boulevard restaurant, where Rapp was photographed pouring more champagne.
Reflecting on the original 2003 event, Drew Barrymore had previously shared on Instagram about the memorable night where an old school bus hired for the trip broke down, forcing them to walk the rest of the way, champagne in hand.
Cara Delevingne's sobriety journey began in 2022 after she checked into a 12-step program following unsettling photos of her emerging from Van Nuys airport. Addressing her past struggles, Cara candidly said to Variety, "You need to communicate and be honest about it as much as you can - especially with yourself. No one is perfect." She emphasized the importance of being vocal about mental health struggles and finding connection as a counter to addiction.
Delevingne credits these infamous photos with aiding her sobriety, stating that presence around alcohol "doesn't mess her up." Embracing her newfound power, she told The Times in July, "I used to think drugs and alcohol helped me copeā¦but they didn't, they kept me sad and super depressed. I feel like I've got my power back and I'm not being controlled by other things."
Her journey and resilience were on full display earlier this week when she joined other celebrities for a Halloween bash in West Hollywood, paying tribute to "American Psycho" as Patrick Bateman.
