'For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend,' Emily Goldberg writes along with throwback pictures of their time together.

AceShowbiz - Avicii's ex-girlfriend Emily Goldberg has broken her silence after the Swedish DJ passed away. She took to Instagram to share throwback photos of their time together and write a heartfelt message to the late EDM star.

" 'Come on babe, don't give up on us. Choose me, and I'll show you love.' Those are lyrics from a song Tim wrote for me," she wrote in the caption. "I wish I could have lived up to them. For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend. Now I can't look at Bear without knowing I'll never see his face again. I'm still collecting my thoughts and thank you for all your kind words and texts. Wake me up when it's all over, because I don't want it to be real #ripavicii #avicii @avicii."

Emily also shared a screenshot of their text conversation in which they expressed their love for each other.

Her followers flooded the comment section with supportive messages like "You can see him in your dreams," "we're here for you Emily" and "Be strong beauty... This is so sad."

Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, was found dead in Muscat, Oman on Friday, April 20. He was 28. His representative confirmed in a statement, "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."

No cause of death was immediately given, but the "Wake Me Up" hitmaker was battling pancreatitis due excessive drinking since 2016 before his sudden passing. His health condition forced him to stop performing live.

Many stars and fellow musicians sent their condolences following Avicii's death. "Something really horrible happened," DJ David Guetta wrote on social media. "We lost a friend with such a beautiful heart and the world lost an incredibly talented musician. Thank you for your beautiful melodies, the time we shared in the studio, playing together as djs or just enjoying life as friends. RIP @Avicii."

Rita Ora, who is featured on Avicii's recent hit "Lonely Together", added, "I have no words. I remember how amazing it was to make Lonely Together and it felt like just yesterday we were talking. Condolences to Avicii's family, friends, and the fans who supported him. May he rest in peace. Gone too soon. I'm devastated. Heartbroken."

Calvin Harris, Imagine Dragons, DJ Zedd, Deadmau5, Liam Payne, Charlie Puth, Jared Leto and Ruby Rose were among other stars who have paid tribute to the late DJ.
