Creative Arts Emmys: 'Game of Thrones' Wins Big, HBO Leads After Two-Night Ceremonies

'Thrones' collects the most awards among other shows with nine nods, 'American Crime Story' grabs five awards, and 'Grease Live' nabs four trophies.

AceShowbiz - A week before the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences handed out the Creative Arts Emmy Awards in two ceremonies held over the weekend at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Repeating its success last year, "Game of Thrones" led the list of winners with nine awards, one more than it did at last year's Creative Arts Emmys.

The hit HBO series took home awards for Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Special Visual Effects, Outstanding Makeup for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Costumes for a Period/Fantasy Series, Limited Series or Movie and Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Drama Series, Limited Series or Movie among other categories.

The show also helped the cable channel top other networks with a total of 16 nods after the two-night ceremonies, which were held Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10. Other shows winning big at the Creative Arts Emmys included FX's "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson" (five), FOX's live musical event "Grease Live" (four) and Netflix's docuseries "Making a Murderer".

Amy Poehler also had a big night on the Saturday ceremony as she won her first ever Emmy Award, after losing out on previous 16 nominations. She won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her hosting gig on "Saturday Night Live", sharing the honor with co-host and best pal Tina Fey.

The 2016 Creative Arts Emmy Awards will air September 17, the night before the Primetime Emmys which will air live starting at 7 P.M. ET/4 P.M. PT on ABC with Jimmy Kimmel as the host.
