Robin Williams's third wife Susan Schneider and his three children from previous marriages Zak, Zelda and Cody have been engaged in a legal battle over his estate. The legal dispute occurred just six months after Robin's passing.

According to the New York Times, Susan filed a lawsuit against Robin's kids back in December in California Superior Court. In her lawsuit, Susan claimed some property at their house were "unilaterally removed" from their house "days after Mr. Williams's untimely death."

When she sought legal representative, "certain home-related services [like newspaper delivery] were canceled." She said since losing "her husband through a shocking and emotionally charged event," she was not "given time to grieve her loss free from the frenetic efforts to interfere with her domestic tranquillity."

Zak, Zelda and Cody filed a response to Susan's lawsuit in January. They said they were "heartbroken" that their stepmother, who was married to their father for "less than three years," has "acted against his wishes by challenging the plans he so carefully made for his estate."

According to Robin's children's documents, Susan's petition added "insult to a terrible injury" and was a premature attempt to change their father's instructions and "prevent them from receiving what their father wanted them to receive."

Robin's estate set up a separate trust for Susan that included their Tiburon house and "all costs related to the residence." However in her petition, the trust must include "all expenses associated with daily upkeep as well as unexpected renovations and improvements."

Robin's children criticized Susan for asking additional funds before her trust had even been funded. The children claimed Susan's act was a sign of "the greed that appears to be driving petitioner's actions."

The mostly debated items are Robin's personal effects including an Oscar for his performance in "Good Will Hunting", six Golden Globes, two Emmys and five Grammys. An updated version of his trust stated that his "clothing, jewelry, personal photos taken prior to his marriage to Susan," his "memorabilia and awards in the entertainment industry" and other property at his house in Napa, California should go to his three children.

Susan said she was not seeking Robin's belongings related to his career in the entertainment industry, but wanted items like the tuxedo he wore at their wedding as well as his "personal collections of knickknacks and other items that are not associated with his famous persona."

In their response, Robin's children said, "These collections were carefully amassed by Mr. Williams over his lifetime and were precious to him. As the Williams children grew, so did their father's collections and they shared in their father's excitement as additions were made to his collection."

The children wanted to resolve any potential disputes "as quickly and efficiently as possible, to allow them to privately grieve the loss of their father and begin to heal from this tragic event."

On Monday, February 2, Susan's lawyer Jim Wagstaffe told the site in a phone interview that his client was "not somebody who has any sticky fingers." He added, "Mr. Williams wanted his wife to be able to stay in her home and not be disrupted in her life with her children. Compared to what the Williams children were set to receive from their father, this is a bucket of water in a lake."

A publicist for Zak, Zelda and Cody declined further comment.
