Hundreds of demonstrators gathered on Thursday evening, January 8 outside the Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario where Bill Cosby took the stage for the second time in the city. According to CTV News, some of the protesters brought some signs and shouted "shame on you" to ticket-holders.
A protester named Karen Ann Bridge, who had purchased tickets to the show but decided not to attend it following the rape allegations against the comedian, told The Canadian Press, "I don't think I could ever watch a show from now without that being at the back of my mind. These are just allegations but they still don't sit with me well... women don't lie about these things."
In other news, another celebrity has spoken out in defense of Bill. Appearing on "The Meredith Vieira Show" on Thursday, Vivica A. Fox praised Keshia Knight Pulliam for the way she handled the questions about Bill's scandal. Vivica told Meredith Vieira, "I worked on the Cosby show and was honored to do the show, and I have to agree with Keshia the man that I met was nothing like the man they are describing."
"He was nice, kind," she continued, "There was no sexual overtones or anything so I defend him and I stand by him as well, too." Meredith then told Vivica, "It also makes it all the more heartbreaking if these women are correct," to which she responded, "We shall see. We all weren't there and as I said the man I met and worked with was nothing like that."
Also appearing on the show was Piers Morgan, who was also asked about Bill's scandal. Piers slammed Phylicia Rashad for her recent comments in which she defended the comedian. Piers said Phylicia's comment "forget those women" was "particularly offensive."
"How many [women] have there been? Twenty-five? 30?" he told Meredith, "All saying exactly the same thing. All describing a very similar pattern of drug and sex related abuse by one of America's biggest stars and I don't think it's conscionable for anyone right now to be employing Bill Cosby while these allegations remain unresolved. He's going on tour."
Meredith said, "I think there is a certain number of people who feel in this country you are innocent until proven guilty and I believe in that. I also, know where there is smoke there is often fire." Piers then replied, "Not just smoke here. We have a chimney and every day that goes by. Most of these women have no connection to each other and yet they are describing exactly the same pattern of abuse and when that happens, most police will tell you, it's not just smoke without fire, there has been abuse."
Meredith then warned him to be careful because the allegations against Bill have not proven yet. "I don't feel the need to be careful," he responded, "I think if Bill Cosby, who is America's dad, this was his image. This is a man who lectured his own black community in America many times about their behavior, young black men in America about their behavior towards women. He is now have been leveled these incredibly serious charges. Go to camera, look that camera down, talk to America in the way you have many times before and go through these charges."
He added, "The trashing of these women now by people, like this lady, who was his on-screen wife, I find it pretty reprehensible. She's entitled to [defend him] and I'm entitled to find that reprehensible."
