AceShowbiz - The red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City was glittered with A-list stars who attended the "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala on Monday, May 5. It was like a parade of beautiful dresses as the female guests picked their best outfits for the event.

Among those stunning with their looks were Beyonce Knowles, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian. Coming hand-in-hand with husband Jay-Z, Queen Bey was smoldering hot in a revealing black number by Givenchy with a fishnet headpiece. Her rapper husband, meanwhile, looked sharp in a white suit paired with black pants and bowtie.

RiRi bared her midriff in a white dress Stella McCartney that also flaunted her sexy back. She arranged her hair in a messy updo. Also showing up solo, Taylor was elegant in a pink Oscar de la Renta gown. She tweeted before the event that her cat almost ruined her dress, "That moment when your cat casually walks up,then abruptly ATTACKS your custom satin Oscar de la Renta gown during your fitting for Met Ball."

Kim and Kanye West, who were rumored to have officially tied the knot over the weekend, were inseparable at the event. The reality TV star opted for a strapless Lanvin dress with a tigh-high slit, and her fiance donned a black-and-white tuxedo. Kim flashed her blue underwear on her way out of the Lanvin store for the final fitting of the dress earlier that night.

Selena Gomez was equally stunning in a purple DVF gown with Charlotte Olympia heels and Emma Stone brought colors with her two-piece number by Thakoon. The Gwen Stacy of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was joined by her on- and off-screen boyfriend Andrew Garfield, who donned a grey suit.

Blake Lively channeled her inner goddess in a Gucci dress as she hit the red carpet with husband Ryan Reynolds. Her former "Gossip Girl" co-star Leighton Meester opted for an Emilio Pucci dress with plunging neckline.

Lupita Nyong'o stole attention with her unique outfit, a custom designed calf length emerald green net dress assembled with glass beads, crystals, chandelier drops and feathers down the sides and on the bottom by Prada. She completed her look with military green suede sandals and a green raso clutch.

Zoe Kravitz, meanwhile, suffered wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet when she strut her high slit, revealing too much than she intended as she went commando for the event. The actress, who recently dyed her hair blonde, wore a deep red Michael Kors gown.

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour co-hosted the Met Gala with Sarah Jessica Parker and Bradley Cooper. Lea Michele, Kristen Stewart, Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn were among other guests at the party.
