Get out your handkerchiefs, folks. It's the show before the last show.

Crosby's helping Adam hang the banner for Chambers Academy Career Week, and they're arguing as usual. Crosby has been checking out mixing boards and Adam is certain that now is not the time to spend their insurance money - despite the fact there's no recording in a recording studio without a board. Student Edgar breaks up the fray by asking Adam to be his mentor for Career Week. Edgar wants to be a French chef - which Adam knows nothing about. But Edgar is dead set on Adam as his mentor. Catching Edgar's fever, Adam promises he won't let him down.

Zeek and Camille taking a long-postponed hike, and Zeek is not faring well. Pale and shaking, he settles down on a boulder, then levels with his wife. He's decided not to go through another operation. He just wants to live his life and enjoy every moment he has left.

Hank and Sarah talk wedding plans, spit-balling outrageous ideas, like getting married atop a volcano. Suddenly, Amber bolts up, discomfort ratcheting into intense pain. It's time to go to the hospital! Hank's efforts to keep everyone calm result in even more chaos and danger, during which Sarah texts the whole family. Adam, Kristina, Crosby and Jasmine are all waiting at the hospital by the time Amber, Hank and Sarah arrive. Sitting alone in the waiting room, Jasmine tells Kristina that she's so glad Adam and Crosby worked out everything with The Luncheonette. Kristina purses her lips and lays into Jasmine, accusing her of guilting Adam into staying with business. The argument is getting heated just as Zeek and Camille wander into the waiting room, followed by Adam, Hank and Crosby. It's the first Crosby has heard of Jasmine's conversation with Adam, and he instantly knows Kristina's right: Adam felt guilty, so he opted back into The Luncheonette. Zeek tries to interject as Adam and Crosby's quarrel escalates, and Camille tries helplessly to interject - they're upsetting their father. Crosby quits The Luncheonette and leaves in a huff as Jasmine runs after him. He can't just throw a tantrum and leave! Crosby accuses Jasmine of meddling behind his back, but she insists she was only trying to help keep Crosby's dream alive. But Crosby just can't continue to be in a business with a brother who doesn't care - because being in business with Adam was what made it special in the first place. Inside, Amber and Sarah emerge from the birthing suite: it was a false alarm.

Julia and Joel sit down with the kids to explain that Joel's moving back in. Sydney is overjoyed but Victor hesitates. How can they be so sure? What happens when the next problem comes up? Joel and Julia haven't thought that far ahead... Later, when Joel returns his underwear to its rightful drawer, he's surprised to discover Julia has been underwear shopping and made some definitive lingerie changes. And why is the TV now in the bedroom? When Chris calls from Julia's office during their first breakfast with the kids, Joel follows Julia outside to talk. She lets it drop that when they were apart, they "both slept with people," stunning Joel. He didn't sleep with people! Watching the conversation escalate, Sydney's and Victor's faces fall. Can their parents really stick together? None of this is lost on Joel and Julia. The next time trouble arises, Julia insists on talking it through, even though Joel is scared. The solution: the couple brings their argument to the car, out of earshot of their kids... and wake up the next morning in love.

Zeek is preoccupied and grumpy while sitting for a portrait painted by Camille. He thinks it's time to tell their four children about his decision to forego surgery. Why not have them over for dinner - no spouses, no grandchildren? Biting back her tongue and her tears, Camille agrees to Zeek's plan. Over the dinner table, it doesn't take Adam and Crosby long to start arguing over the day many years ago when Adam stabbed Crosby in the neck. Camille watches as Zeek crumbles, no longer strong enough to cut through the crap as the family patriarch. Rather than bluster, Zeek silently retreats to the bedroom, where Sarah finds him to deliver her news. She's getting married! Overjoyed, Zeek can hardly wait to walk her down the aisle, bringing Sarah to tears. Knowing time is precious, she returns home to talk to Hank. Forget a destination wedding; the only that matters to her is that Zeek is there. Hank gets it. They'll get married in town next week.

The next day at Chambers Academy, Max photographs Adam hamming it up for the camera while mentoring Edgar. Max scolds his father - his mentor Hank told him to take realistic shots, no posed selfies - while Adam sets the bar low. Edgar should cook a French omelet. But Edgar wants to make a soufflé. Max interjects: it doesn't matter what Edgar makes since he'll probably end up unemployed anyway. People with autism have an 85% unemployment rate. Refusing to confront the facts, Adam insists Chambers will turn out employable students, and darn it, they're making the soufflé! That night, Adam and Kristina approach Max for a talk about his 85% statistic - which absolutely doesn't apply to him. Kristina can't hold back the tears while telling her son he has no limitations, and his parents can't wait to continue forth on their journey together. Expressionless, Max asks if he can keep reading his book, then turns away.

Sarah finds Amber sitting on her bed playing guitar and singing their song, Joni Mitchell's "The Circle Game." While Amber's physically fine, she's feeling bad because she was relieved after her false alarm. She has no idea how she's going to cope with a baby. Sarah assures her daughter that something shifts during childbirth, and she'll figure it all out in time. When Amber holds her baby for the first time, she'll know she didn't make a mistake. Amber tells Sarah, "You're my hero," and mother and daughter tearfully sing their favorite song together - a far cry from when their journey began.

It's Career Day at Chambers Academy! While making their soufflé, Adam and Edgar discuss the 85%. Edgar's scared. What if he sucks at cooking and can't get a job anywhere? Adam advises him to press on; it's all about finding out what you love to do, all the while knowing he hasn't necessarily found that thing for himself. Through Kristina's eyes, Career Day is a tremendous success. Hank mentors Max who photographs Dylan dancing a piece choreographed by Jasmine, who makes up with Kristina without a word in a glance across the room. Adam and Edgar open the oven to reveal their soufflé, a thing of perfect chocolate beauty that leaves Adam hamming it up with victory poses for the camera. It's an amazing moment for Edgar, and Kristina notes that Adam is the happiest she's seen him in a long while.

Amber wakes up in the middle of the night and calls her mom. This time it's for real - and only Sarah is to be there. While Adam and Crosby pack up and close down The Luncheonette, Amber gives birth to a healthy baby boy. Camille and Zeek are the first to arrive at the hospital and are beside themselves with delight to meet baby Zeek, their first great-grandbaby.
