ANIMAL RIGHTS VS. HUMAN LIFE - When an AIDS researcher becomes a casualty of the "liberation" of his laboratory's primate test subjects, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) look toward animal rights activists and previous lab protesters for suspects. One such demonstrator, Maxine (guest star Tricia Paoluccio), seems to have exerted unusual influence on an impressionable security guard at the lab (guest star Kevin Isola). A.D.A.'s McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon), as well as the unwitting security guard, soon find themselves involved in a self-defense test case as animal rights lawyers hope to prove that the protection of animal life is a valid defense in a murder case, equal to the protection of human life.
