A haunting in Eli's apartment building prompts him to confess his abilities to his afflicted neighbor, Morgan. Eli and Melinda then work with Morgan to try and find the root of the haunting, but are confused when they discover that she lied to them when she said she didn't know anyone who had recently died. It turns out that Morgan had become very close with a terminal cancer patient, Rick, who had recently died during a freak skydiving accident. After further investigation they learn that Morgan also suffers from cancer, but that she had stopped taking treatment for the disease. Melinda and Eli then work under the assumption that Rick was trying to scare her back into seeking treatment, and that his "freak accident" had actually been planned in order to get Morgan insurance money to pay for it. However, Morgan is exposed as a fraud when Melinda and Eli discover that she never had cancer, and that she'd actually been married twice to terminally ill husbands. But in one more twist, Melinda and Eli find out that Morgan had donated all the money that Rick had given her back to the cancer treatment center where he had received care, and that she had turned over a new leaf. Meanwhile, Jim struggles to accept his new life as Sam.
