The investigation into the brutal stabbing of a young woman takes a dangerous turn when it's discovered evidence at the crime scene had been planted by the D.A in the case. The D.A found a lighter in his bedroom realizing that it must belong to the man with whom his wife is having an affair, he planted the evidence at the crime scene knowing the CSI crime lab would match the fingerprints and give him the man's identity, Ted Meyers. When the team discovered the planted evidence, this not only pitted Mac against a trusted colleague, but also resulted in the young woman's killer being released since Stella had to inform the court of the tainted crime scene. After police interrogation Ted disappears, Mac and the team know the D.A is behind this and even though he covered most of his tracks, Adam uncovers evidence in the D.A's vehicle and decodes an encrypted GPS which leads them to the whereabouts of Ted's body. Meanwhile, Lindsay catches our released killer attempting to murder the only witness who can put him in jail for the young woman's murder, sealing his fate and bringing the young woman's mother justice.
Danny is struggling with his quick return back to work after the shooting. He is in a lot of pain and trying to hide it from Lindsay and the team.
