The team investigates a series of male bodies that have been oddly disposed of - hair dyed black, nails painted red, and stuffed with tissue paper into a box. While the search for the killer intensifies, the abductions escalate and bodies begin to show up with dislocated limbs and puncture wounds though the hands and feet. The only female to be abducted is still unaccounted for and the team hopes to find her alive, though they suspect that she is somehow involved in a ritual that the UnSub is continually trying - and failing - to complete. Ultimately, they realize that their killer is turning his victims into living marionettes in order to re-create a traumatic event from his childhood. Meanwhile, Reid gets anxious when faced with the possibility of meeting Maeve for the first time.
