The 'Wild 'n Out' alum and the 'Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping' star are cast as replacements for recently departing players Taran Killam, Jay Pharaoh and Jon Rudnitsky.

AceShowbiz - "Saturday Night Live" has begun filling the void left by recently departing players Taran Killam, Jay Pharaoh and Jon Rudnitsky. The show has reportedly added two comedians as new cast members for its upcoming season 42.

Mikey Day, one of the show's writers, has been promoted to featured cast member. He has been writing for "SNL" since 2013 and recently appeared on NBC's variety show "Maya & Marty" hosted by Maya Rudolph and Martin Short. He got his start with the L.A.-based improv group The Groundlings and was a cast member of MTV's "Wild 'n Out".

Another comedian added to the cast is Chris Redd, who graced theaters last summer through "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping" starring Andy Samberg. Redd trained at both The Second City and iO Theater. He has also appeared on "Empire" and "Chicago P.D."

"SNL" has not commented on the casting reports. The show is expected to announce its full cast for the new season next week. The show will kick off the 42nd season on October 1.

Killam, Pharaoh and Rudnitsky announced their departures from the long-running sketch series in August. Killam recently bid farewell to the show with a spoof of HBO's "Hard Knocks".
