Joan Rivers Will Have Red Carpet Funeral
Celebrity

'A lot of celebrities' are confirmed to attend and a red carpet will be rolled out before the 'Fashion Police' host is laid to rest in New York.

AceShowbiz - Joan Rivers is getting her final wish. Although the funeral will be private, it will still have showbiz theme like she said she always wanted. A red carpet will be rolled out for family and friends to walk upon outside Temple Emanu-El before she was laid to rest. "A lot of celebrities confirmed," a source said to Us Weekly. The rug will be buried with the late comedienne later.

In her 2012 book "I Hate Everyone...Starting With Me", Joan wrote, "When I die (and yes, Melissa, that day will come; and yes, Melissa, everything's in your name), I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action ... I want Craft services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene!"

"I want it to be Hollywood all the way. I don't want some rabbi rambling on; I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents. I don't want a eulogy; I want Bobby Vinton to pick up my head and sing 'Mr. Lonely.' I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. I want to be buried in a Valentino gown and I want Harry Winston to make me a toe tag. And I want a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like Beyonce's."

Joan passed away September 4 after being hospitalized for a week at the Mount Sinai Hospital. She was put on life support after going into cardiac arrest during a minor surgery at Yorkville Endoscopy clinic, which is now undergoing investigation from the State Health Department. She was 81. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Rivers and grandson Cooper.

The physical examination of her body has been completed, but the Medical Examiner's Office reportedly couldn't find a clear "cause and manner of death" from the autopsy. Further studies including toxicology test and interview with medical professionals who were present during her throat procedure are required.
