'Ghostbusters 3' Script Will Be Revised After Harold Ramis' Death

Written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the previous script which had Ramis in a cameo role is now expected to be reworked.

"Ghostbusters 3" will have to make an adjustment following the death of Harold Ramis. The original actor who wrote the first two films with Dan Aykroyd was originally set to make a cameo. The script is now expected to get minor tweak so that the project can move forward without Ramis.

Though "there will be some repercussions," an insider assures that the production on the third installment will happen as planned. The source tells The Hollywood Reporter, "he was always great to bounce something off of, and that will certainly be missed but it won't affect the script."

Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two films, is back to his post behind the lens for the threequel. "The Office" writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky penned the previous draft of the script. The story is still scarce, but the new movie is expected to focus on a younger generation of Ghostbusters.

"The concept is that the old Ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity," Ramis once said. The original Ghostbusters are Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Aykroyd, and Ramis himself.

The third "Ghostbusters" movie has been in development for years. Reitman is expected to meet with people at Sony in the coming days to decide how to proceed.

Ramis died on February 24 at his home in Chicago. He passed away from complications arising from vasculitis. He was 69.
