Jennifer Lopez to Play Cougar in Thriller 'The Boy Next Door'
Movie

J.Lo will romance a boy toy who befriends her son in a low-budgeted movie produced by 'Paranormal Activity' mastermind.

AceShowbiz - Art imitates life. Jennifer Lopez will be playing with a boy toy in her next movie. The 44-year-old songstress, who is dating much-younger boyfriend Casper Smart in real life, is tapped to portray a cougar mom in a thriller called "The Boy Next Door".

The movie will follow the "On the Floor" hitmaker, who just secured a deal to return to "American Idol", as a newly-single mom as she's involved in an affair with her teenage neighbor who befriends her son. Trouble ensues when she tries to end the relationship.

The project is produced by Jason Blum ("Paranormal Activity") under his first-look deal at Universal. "XXX" and "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" director Rob Cohen is reportedly in talks to direct with a script by Barbara Curry.

Blum, known for his low-budgeted movies like "The Purge" and "Paranormal Activity" franchise, will make the thriller on a shoestring budget as well (between $3 and $4 million.) Production is expected to begin this fall before J.Lo begins filming the live shows of "Idol" in January 2014.

Lopez was last seen on the big screen starring opposite Jason Statham in Taylor Hackford's crime thriller "Parker" released in January this year. Last June during a radio interview, she freaked out after taking a call that informed she had landed a movie role of her dream.

"I just got this movie I wanted!" she said back then without going into details. "It's a great role and a lot of people wanted it. For a little actress like me that's a big deal!"
