NBC's 2012-2013 Fall Schedule: 'The Voice' Returns Early, 'Smash' Is Delayed

J.J. Abrams' 'Revolution' will air after 'Voice' on Monday, while low-rated comedies 'Community' and 'Whitney' are moved to Friday.

NBC has become the first network to unveil its primetime line-up for 2012-2013 TV season. As it was long rumored, the Peacock will bring back "The Voice" for its third season in the fall on the same slots, 8 P.M.-10 P.M. on Monday and 8 P.M.-9 P.M. on Tuesday. Additionally, the singing competition will have a spring cycle.

Speaking to reporters during a conference call on Sunday, May 13, NBC's entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt revealed his plans to add the spinning chairs from the audition phase into the battle rounds. He, however, didn't share further details on the change.

"Smash", which used to follow up "The Voice" on Monday, is benched until midseason. Getting the slot is freshman "Revolution" which comes from J.J. Abrams. On Tuesday, the reality show will be followed by new comedy "Go On" starring Matthew Perry. Ryan Murphy's comedy "The New Normal" will air next at 9:30 P.M..

"30 Rock" and "The Office" are still lined up for Thursday comedy block, while "Whitney" and "Community" are moved to Friday. Explaining the move, Greenblatt told Entertainment Weekly, "I know that most people in our industry think Friday is a graveyard but we don't really believe that... We thought if we have a base there, let's see if we can give 'Grimm' a lead-in with these shows that actually have fan bases - including 'Whitney'."
