'Girlfriends' alum Persia White will play a troubled woman who abandoned Bonnie, while Paul Wesley's actress wife Torrey DeVitto will portray a young doctor who is intrigued by Alaric.
"The Vampire Diaries" fans will finally meet Bonnie's mother in an upcoming episode of the fantasy series. Persia White, who is best known for her role as Lynn Searcy on sitcom "Girlfriends", has been cast to play Abby Bennett who abandoned her daughter Bonnie.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Abby is "a beautiful but troubled woman who is burdened by the secrets of her past that led her to leave Bonnie." Like other Bennet women, she is determined and fiery. The character will first appear in episode 12 of season 3 and recur.
In addition to White, Torrey DeVitto has also landed a role on "Vampire Diaries". The 27-year-old, who happens to be the wife of the Stefan depicter Paul Wesley in real life, will play an intelligent young doctor named Mary.
Mary is intrigued by Alaric's powers of recovery after the history teacher lands in the hospital. DeVitto, who has a recurring role on "Pretty Little Liars", will be featured in episode 10 and 11 with a strong possibility to recur afterward, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
"Vampire Diaries" will air its midseason finale on Thursday, November 10 at 8/7c on The CW. Teasing about the episode titled "Homecoming", Joseph Morgan who plays Klaus said, "The midseason finale is just going to take it to a whole new level. There's going to be a huge confrontation, blood will be shed. It's going to be action-packed."
