A source close to the Jacksons has exclusively revealed to X17 Online that family will likely have a traditional Muslim burial for late Michael Jackson. "The family is considering following the Muslim burial traditions because they believe Michael would have wanted to be laid to rest in keeping with his new-found religious beliefs," says the source.
"Michael's brother Jermaine is educating the family as to the special rites because he feels it's important to bury his brother according to the Muslim way," adds the source. Despite earlier reports that both public and private memorial services for the late music performer have been set to be held this week, there has been no official confirmation just yet from Michael's family on the location where his body will be laid to rest.
Michael Jackson was reported converting to Islam in late 2008, years after expressing his interest to join the faith. He later on changed his name into "Mikaeel", which was meant as a reference to the name of one of Allah's angels.
In Muslim burial, per X17 Online, someone's body "has to be cleaned, but ideally not embalmed, and wrapped in a white sheet, and it must be buried facing Mecca. The Koran also dictates that the body be buried as close to the place of death and as soon after death as possible. There should be no tombstone near the grave."

May Allah give you the hidayah/sign of truth.. :-) From what i know (Allah knows the best, the reasons for everything we are asked to do)All Muslims are buried facing the Kaabah in Mecca, which is also the only direction that we are facing during prayers, no matter where we are around the globe.. This shows unity in Islam, same as the white cloth.. No matter a king, or a president, when the person dies, he/she'll be "dressed up" in white cloth.. This symbolizes that after all, we are all the same, just human, despite of who we are when we are alive..the difference is in our level of faith..which is to be evaluated in the life hereafter..so, instead of just focusing to be successful & rich in this world, remember to keep your faith in Allah and follow His Laws to "pass the test" in Hereafter..your wealth doesn't help at all in the "test"..May all of us be placed in the Heaven.. I dont know why but i was still in pain when i was read about death of Michael Jackson, I am not listning songs but dont know why i read and watched about him alot after his death and then I realised that he was admirable person. And after hearing that He was also Muslim (Alhamdullilah) now i am feeling peace in my heart. From that day i am still praying and reciting Quran for him & for my loved once. To tweetybird...the answer to your question regarding Islamic burial.First of all it is correct to say we bury within 24hrs ie. if death was by natural cause. If an autopsy is required obviously this cannot happen. Our prophet Muhammed (PBUH) said that "Hasten with the dead before the body rots!" The ritual is rather long to write down but in a nutshell, we have to make sure to loosen the joints of the deceased and gently fold them & also remove the excreta etc. before washing & shrouding the body. After giving the body a good wash, we then add camphor to the water & pour it over the body, thus giving it a good clean fagrance. We use calico fabric for shrouding the body. This is inexpensive.Once all this is done, we then put the body in a casket & then have it transporterd to the mosque for a prayer on the deceased & then to the graveyard. Inside the grave the body is directly laid onto the ground on the right shoulder facing Mecca. We do not use coffins nor cremate. We have consumed from earth & we go back into the belly of the earth. Before covering with sand, timber slats are placed diagonally across the body so that the sand does not rest onto the body itself. Another prayer is then offered to the deceased. I may have left out a few things but this is only to give you an idea. Very simple way to be buried. One is born with nothing & when you die you go with very little. After all, we become maggots, so why go for unecessay expense. i hope this is all clear to you.

Jesus is part of the Trinity… You will not understand this cause you do not know the Bible so much as you say you do and unfortunately, the other Christians here as well. Just so that you understand, Allah, the one you call, is the same Father I am referring to… again, you need to know the Bible and reflect on His connection to Jesus. You say that Jesus was a Prophet who went to heaven without leaving the earth like any other Man? Taking your words, means He still lives… Is a prophet so powerful to live forevermore??? Do you know the story of how JESUS was born???? Do you know of the Angel that appeared to Mary??? Or is it written differently in the Quran? Just for your info, Jonah survived the incident of the whale. He did not rise to Heaven. Obviously I do not expect you to know anything about the Trinity… Father, Son and Holy Spirit… before Jesus was taken to be killed.. oh I forgot, you do not believe he was killed, He told His disciples that he was not going to leave them on earth alone, but will send them His Holy Spirit. Hi Guys, I have been following this debate for a while now and I am becoming more and more confused by both MJFAN and now Victory. MJFan you continuously say that Jesus is God but then you also say he is going to sit at the right hand of the father (GOD)your comment dated 21.7.09.. now who is the real GOD?....Jesus or the Father and since Mary was Jesus' mother then she must be a greater God ?????? This is how the CATHOLICS BELIEVE. I dont understand the logic. Even being a Christian I think that Farah's comments are clearer and understandable.I have checked on her references which proved to be as is written in the Bible. Some of them even embraced Islam without anyone trying to revert them. This they did by themselves. Islam says there is no compulsion on religion. Anyway, keep well and look after yourself.

I am his Wendy & he is my Peter Pan. Michael doe's not need his sins forgiving, as he did not do the crimes he was accused of. Religion causes fights amongst people, who would never normally fight. When a clergyman can't except a child shouting out in church, who cannot help it as the child in question has Autism, that is when it becomes a joke. When a Muslim would lay down and die for Allah, well that is just plain stupid. There is no guarantee, that either of them are going to be there for us in our hour of need. We have to believe in one or the other, to some degree, as if we don't then the thought of dieing would feel awfully lonely. But would just like to say that neither religion owns Michael, he belongs to everyone. What ever his family decide should be final, and we should wear their choices. His family bought Michael into this world, & shared him with all of us, & they should have the right to decide how they would like to say goodbye. I jus want to say that micheal jackson was so wonderful in every way as an artist,performer,father unfortunately he was hounded by the media, people jus didnt let him be, they used to bully him about his appearance and the media wrote nasty and hurtful stories about him, i think he suffered alot.his music was awesome, i never doubted him when his trial came about. His music was so pure and it was always about helping others its unfortuante that no - one bought that underneath a spotlight. if he did convert to Islam i hope that allah blesses his soul and grants him a place in heaven. whatever is done by the jackson family with repect to his burrial, I hope Allah Will be kind enough to Mike. If Allah Almighity bestows His blesiings once, he may wish to contine it further. It was the responsibilty of MJ's family to give him a muslim burrial. What wondered me most is the strong message of peace that islam has preached all over the world. It even reached to the king of pop, who was surrounded by high sounding musical instruments. I feel pity for those who only listens to MJ's songs , and not the song of his soul- the surrender to islam. Michael proved him great by his musical talnce and by his efforts to find the truth.

Some Muslim countries has this wierd rule where the Muslims are not allowed to convert yet other religions can be. Many people who at first converted into Muslim than decides to leave that religion but are not able to do so. No human rights. But I cant be bothered about the Christians and Muslims. I was born a catholic, baptised in a cathedral, received my first holy communion at 9 years old and was confirmed as a teenager. well micheal had lived his life and died.jus november last year, he converted to islam. i asked myself what is special in that islam.definately, there must be something special in islam. we have seen great people converting to islam.... the likes of malcolm X, mike tyson, jamine jackson even the queen of whales was about to convert when she enventually died..... we should all meditate over this.

It is amazing how many muslims here are rejoicing with the possible fact that Michael Jackson may have converted to Islam. You only need to see the fruits of the spirit in someone to know if the faith he is following is good or not. Guess what: THERE WAS NO PEACE OF MIND OR REST OF BODY REGARDLESS WHAT HE DID. The man was begging to sleep for goodness sake. True faith gives you peace, joy and changes you from the inside you do not need false methods to bring you rest and happiness. This is for Mohamed. It all depends the family how they will bury him. There's no doubt about Jermain converted to Islam. But as for Michael, I also believe he died as Muslim. So keeping the body of a Muslim for so many days doesn't make him to go to hell. So in the case of Michael if there's any paper or will mention that he should be buries in Islamic Tradition way, then there's nothing can stop that. All we have to do is wait, I believe as a Muslim, Jermain will do something about it.

Yes, Mİchael was loved by people but nobody gave his life for Him, only our Lord Jesus Christ the Saviour of the world. İ hope he is in peace now looking at the true face of God. İ also pray and hope his children will find the God of Love, of true sacrificial love and not only his children but the rest of his family. Why you people make fuss of it!. We Muslim of course feel very please and happy if any one of non Muslim have converted in to Muslim. More over in his life Michael career was surrounding with many allegation and bizarre speculation that media have made him very feel hurt and up sad and mostly they are not Muslim, and I don't think Michael find any good on other religion. So once he discover the truth he finally converted in to Islam, most of Muslim are very please to welcome and it mentioned in Al quran it should be celebrate. He have change his face, and many other more which we do not have a witness for what bad and wrong of his mankind, but just 6 months of conversion, he have pass away. Yes we do lost the music icon but once of all, very few people get this mercy from Allah at very last minute..only for a special people and gifted people which his heart are pure as snow...and think with this tragedy, he was among those people who are selected from God - how lucky he was as once he convert, right after that - not long ago a sudden death happen to him, definitely a paradise will be reward to him as this is the promised from Allah s.w.t - once convert than died - your body and soul will be clean from any sins. Studying MJ's reversion to Islam, one can see that no matter how much fame and money one gains in this world, it will not gauranttee happiness, and I think the reason MJ reverted to Islam is because he found peace within himself by reverting to Islam and God didn't want him to go back to what he was before reverting to Islam. We pray and ask Allah (S.W.T.) to forgive his sins and short comings and rais him among the Muslims in the day of judgement.
