Coinciding with the April Fool's Day, reports came out that a workprint version of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" has been leaked and available for download on several bittorrent sites since Tuesday, March 31. Apparently, the story is true since the 20th Century Fox are quick to issue a statement on the matter.

"Last night, a stolen, incomplete and early version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was posted illegally on websites," so the studio begin their statement. "It was without many effects and had missing scenes and temporary sound and music. We immediately contacted the appropriate legal authorities and had it removed. We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources that make it available or download it."

"The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law - the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts," Fox further promise not to take this issue lightly. "The FBI and MPAA are also actively investigating the crime. We are encouraged by the support of fansites condemning piracy and this illegal posting and pointing out that such theft undermines the enormous efforts of the filmmakers and actors and, above all, hurts fans of the film."

On Wednesday, April 1, BBC News reported that a month before "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" hits theaters, an almost finished copy of the action fantasy film has been leaked out. The bootleg copy, which was claimed to be a DVD-quality version of the film, has been downloaded more than 75,000 times ever since. Though it is a high quality copy, it is described to be incomplete as some special effects shots are unfinished, and green screens and wires attached to actors are still visible.

Chronicling the events leading to "X-Men", "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" follows the story of Wolverine which centers on his epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Starring Hugh Jackman as the titular character, the film also features Liev Schreiber, Taylor Kitsch and Ryan Reynolds among others. The 20th Century Fox action fantasy film will open in U.S. theaters on May 1.

isnt that cute your a 23 yr old kid that spends most of your time on the internet and playing video games. im not here to argue but do your research on what anarchy is really about. yea the typical thing that most people would say would be, anarchist is just a bunch of rebellious little kids. punk is dead and most of these kids have no idea what punk or anarchy is even about. im pretty sure most of them buy there s@#t at hot topic. anyways, im 35 i have a 9 yr old son. what i said is true and ill tell you for the f#@k of it. i became a pro. magician at the age of 20. pulling in 30 to 40 grand a yr. mostly performing corporate companies. got my degree in chemistry at 23, but i ended up working with dell assembling computers for 5 yrs at 20 to 25 dollars an hr. quit dell got a job with chem. pruff reinforcing fiber glass, plastics, and other types of material. made nearly double from what i was getting at dell. i quit chem. pruff last yr so i could spend more time with my son. the whole punk rock band thing is just a hobby. whats cool is that a friend of mine convinced me a few yrs ago to invest money in the

rex84: I don't have to hear your music to know that the punk scene is full of rebellious little anarchist kids like you. And I have never heard such an insane lie in my life. You're 24 years old, and you've supposedly worked ten years, so you started when you were 14. And somehow, you afforded your gear for your band, and two houses, and four cars, and you have enough left over to raise a son for eighteen years. That is the most hilarious nonsense I've read. Judging by the way you speak, I doubt you're educated to get a job above minimum wage. Keep up the brilliant baseless assumptions. They're really bringing out your true colors. Honestly, there was nothing else in your comment that was intelligent or meaningful to warrant a response. You're free to come back and try to argue your idiotic views when you can speak intelligently and use facts and logic to give yourself some credibility. Until then, don't waste your useless life spewing inane bullcrap and having absolutely no understanding of the law or morality.

when you think about your not really stealing when you download music or movies from the internet cuz everybody has to pay a certain amount to have internet or you have to buy a program to download so nobodys really stealing

well thats very funny cuz you have no idea what our music sounds like another is i dont need a job ive saved up for the past ten yrs to live off of for the rest of my life and my sons life. i own 2 houses 4 cars and your probably still living with your parents bumming money off them or working a dead end job where nobody even cares about u or what you do. and do u really think your fav. idols like britney spears kaniea west or whoever comes out on mtv cares that there music is being downloaded there all a bunch of rich idiots. and its not even there music most of them dont write there own songs or lyrics i know thats is a shock to u but deal with it and were not choosing to give away our music whaterever money we make off of it we donate it to help others that need it. its funny that you are a low life loser that has nothing else better to do than complain if your hurting so much why dont you get rid of your tv and comp. that way you dont have to deal with it better yet shoot yourself in the head. if downloading music and movies was such a big problem every website that lets you download would be shut down. so you can complain to yourself people on the net or to your mommy all you want nobody is going to care and there is nothing you can do about it because its not a big problem.

It's your band's music that you're distributing, and you decide whether or not to distribute it for money or not, just like every other band. Other bands have chosen to make money from theirs. That is their choice, and just because your band has chosen to give away your crappy music, doesn't mean that you have a right to steal the music of those who did not. The American people are being sucked dry by your hero Obama, who is promoting the same principles that you and your fellow piracy advocates are promoting. "Steal from those who work hard, to give to those who don't." This country thrives when free enterprise is allowed to flourish, not when you and your lowlife Communist friends violate peoples' private property rights. You're damned right I'm complaining about this theft. It is exactly the kind of forced wealth redistribution that is bleeding this country dry. You are part of the problem, not the solution. But it doesn't really surprise me that you're so smug and proud about your criminal activity. You are, after all, in a punk rock band. Maybe someday you'll grow up and get a job and realize the futility in your rebellious anarchist nonsense.

Your entire post is based on lies and a lack of education. Radio stations pay for a broadcast license per song that allows them to play the music for a listening audience. My friends respect the private property rights of hard-working individuals, so no, they don't make illegal copies of copyrighted works. There is nothing wrong with selling the devices. They're made for backup and for making personal un-distributed copies. Like I said in my last comment, but you in your illiteracy failed to read, guns are made for self-defense and hunting, but some amoral, disgusting lowlifes use them to murder innocent people. And VHS died because a superior recording medium - the DVD - was developed. DVD's will face obsolescence when Blu-Rays become the mainstream. And so on. And I'm laughing at your attempts at ad hominem attacks as an act of desperation because you have no valid argument to make, when you really know nothing about me. Here's a suggestion for you that I know for sure to be pertinent - first, stop the hypocrisy. Don't tell me to "stop 'waisting' my time here" when you've sat here writing a reply, then returning to the same article to write another. Oh, I guess it's only a sad waste of time if it is contrary to your misguided views. Second, do some damn research so you can come here and present actual facts and logic, rather than your idiotic lack of knowledge. You know nothing regarding this topic. You just make up whatever half-truth or outright nonsense that supports your mindless delusions.

you are one pretty pathetic person nelvarg peoples music get played on the radio all the time and nobody pays for it it so it doesnt matter if you download a song and hear it for your own satifaction. like you never had a friend that made you a copy of a cd you liked same thing with movies why do you think companies like walmart sell dvd/cd burners and dvd/cd blanks. but some people get greedy and want to make money by making copies and selling them. and when i said dvds are like vhs i mean there going obsolete nobody sells vcr's any more and dvds will be the same. im done and you need to get a life stop waisting your time on this web site and pick up a better hobby get a girlfriend or something.

That is patently false. People who download movies and music ARE criminals because they're taking someone else's property created through their hard work and released for commercial distribution, and not compensating them for it. Distributing stolen movies/music is worse, and distributing it for money is even worse than that, but just downloading it without paying for it is absolutely amoral and illegal. I get it. You do it. You don't want to admit that you're committing a crime, so you make up mindless nonsense like that to try to justify it so you can sleep at night. You deluding yourself to believe that it is right, does not make it right. It doesn't matter how much they are getting already. The fact that you are taking their property without compensation does not lessen the crime. And of course DVD's are like VHS tapes. They're both recording media. It is what you do with them that makes the difference. A gun is a self-defense or hunting tool, but some people choose to walk into town and shoot an innocent person with one. Illegal copying was wrong during the VHS era, and it is wrong now during the DVD era.

people who download movies are not criminals unless they make copies and start selling them and people or companies who own programs or websites pay a certain amount or they will be shut down and everybody whos involed in making movies already got paid or will end up getting there money back sooner or later besides dvds are becoming like vhs tapes

So because lowlife criminal scumbags are an inevitability, we should just start ignoring them? Apathy will be our downfall. Yes, it is amazing that you can get things from the internet that you could previously only get at a store. Technology is great. That doesn't give people the right to obtain these things illegally. Downloading movies is fine if it is from a legitimate retail service like iTunes, so that the creators are actually compensated for their property. What you are doing is a crime. Theft must be stopped.

doesnt matter one way or another movies are going to get on the net if they just came out in theaters or if there on dvd. how amazing it is that where you download about any movie you want from the internet. imagine what else the future holds.

Whoever leaked it needs to be skinned alive and dipped in iodine until they die. Everyone distributing it online should be eviscerated without anesthesia and forced to walk around holding their guts in for a few hours before they expire. Everyone who downloads it should have an appendage cut off with rusty, dull tin snips. I'm not joking. I am freaking sick of this piracy crap. Have some damn respect for private property. Piracy needs much more strict penalties.

I think this leak will actually have a positive effect in the box office. At most probably 1 million people (and thats being very generous) will download the leaked copy and watch it. Out of those a considerable amount will end up even watching it in the movies due to the lack of effects and missing scenes. Add to that the incredible amount of advertisement this leak got in the press these last 2 days. I, for example did not even know the movie was coming out until i started reading all those articles on the leak. Its like one big focus group test where the majority of the viewers will enjoy the leaked version and news of the film will spread by word of mouth. It would be really interesting to see how the movie would have fared in the box office if it hadnt been leaked compared to how it will fare now. Im actually of the belief that the box office numbers will be higher now than they would have been.
