Their work commitments have sent them apart from one another that they decided to call off the engagement which they've just announced back in late April.

AceShowbiz - Marriage is no longer on the list for Lisa Origliasso and Dean Geyer. The pair called off their engagement, which they announced in late April, blaming their work commitments.

The Veronicas singer and the former "American Idol" contestant issued a joint statement Thursday, July 24 announcing their decision to go separate ways. "Our careers demand we be in different parts of the world now and in the future, and the pressures associated with this have forced us to make this very difficult decision," the statement read. "We remain committed and caring friends, with love, admiration and support for one another. We would appreciate respect for our privacy at this time."

Lisa's mother Colleen confirmed her daughter has split from fiance Dean, telling Confidential, "We really don't want to make any more comment about the news, which I'm sure you can understand. But it is an emotional time, which is to be expected." Despite their separation her singer daughter is fine, Colleen claimed.

Lisa and Dean met at the ARIA Awards in 2006, when The Veronicas won the Best Pop Release Award for their debut album "The Secret Life Of...". They reportedly began dating April last year but have spent most of the past three months apart, with The Veronicas based in the U.S. whereas Dean is busy with commitments in Australia.

They announced their engagement on April 28 in a joint statement that said, "Dean Geyer and Lisa Origliasso, together with their families, are delighted to announce they are engaged. The couple have been together since April 2007 and are thrilled to share their news."
