The big green ogre tale series "Shrek the Third" has led the nominations of 2008 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards as
the Dream Works' animation comedy nailed 4 nods at the slimiest event of the year. On Thursday, February 7, the animation set in the land of Far, Far Away gathered a count for Favorite Animated Movie as well as three gongs in Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie category for Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy.
Aside from "Shrek", there are four other movies which landed multiple nominations at the Nickelodeon cable network's event, they are "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End", "Are We Done Yet?", "Bee Movie" and "Spider-Man 3". "Pirates" nabbed three counts, whereas the rest gained double nominations each.
"Pirates" got Favorite Movies nod which means that it will be up against "Alvin and the Chipmunks", "Are We" and "Transformers". It also gathered counts for its two cast members, Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley, who were nominated for Favorite Male and Female Movie Star respectively. On the "Are We" counts, the Steve Carr directed-comedy also received nod for its leading actor Ice Cube in the Favorite Male Movie Star category apart from the best movie gong.
The third installment of "Spider-Man" brought double nods for its leading actress Kirsten Dunst for Favorite Female Movie Star and Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie, whereas "Bee" brought recognition for Jerry Seinfeld in Favorite Voice category. "Bee" was also up for the Favorite Animated Movie contending against "Ratatouille", "Shrek" and "The Simpsons Movie".
Nickelodeon's 21st Annual Kids' Choice Awards will be held at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion on Saturday, March 29. It will be broadcast live at 8:00-9:30 P.M.
