'Alvin and the Chipmunks' Sequel Coming Up 2010
May 10, 2008 11:05:52The harmony singing chipmunks will be back serenading moviegoers in the silver screen. Bringing good news to the 'Alvin' lovers, the 20th Century Fox came out with the release date of the sequel to their successful CGI animated family movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks".
Aiming to generate another big surprise at the box office, "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2" will be officially singing their way to the theaters on March 19, 2010. The sequel reportedly will be focused on the female counterparts of the Chipmunks, the Chipettes which consists of Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor Miller.

'Chipmunks' Scored Best Film at 2008 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards
March 31, 2008 09:03:02Though nominated only in one category at the 21st Annual Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards, the 20th Century Fox's comedy animation film about three singing chipmunks "Alvin and the Chipmunks" didn't come home disappointed on Saturday, March 29. The Tim Hill-directed film has been dubbed kids' favorite movie beating out three other strong contenders, including "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End".
By nailing the favorite movie prize, the Jason Lee starring movie managed to stop "Pirates" from landing multiple awards at the event hosted by comedian Jack Black. Further, beside losing from "Chipmunks", "Pirates" beauty Keira Knightley has to once again be satisfied with being nominated for Favorite Movie Actress prize as the award was given to Jessica Alba for "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer". Knightley was also nominated for Favorite Movie Actress at the 2007 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, but lost to Dakota Fanning.

Alvin and the Chipmunks Kicked Out of 2008 Oscar Consideration
December 07, 2007 03:12:12Merging live-action shots with CGI animation, the 20th Century Fox's "Alvin and the Chipmunks" has to take its leave from the road to become final contenders of Oscar's 2008 Best Animated Feature.
Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has come up to a conclusion to drop the movie from the lineup of animated titles considered to be the nominees in the category. Pic is said to not qualified for the rule which states "animation must figure in no less than 75 percent of the picture's running time."

Twelve Animated Titles Shortlisted for 2008 Oscar
November 09, 2007 02:11:40Marking early announcement on the possible contenders for 2008 Oscar, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) revealed Thursday, November 8, 2007 that twelve pictures have been put in consideration to compete for Academy Awards' Best Animated Feature title. Three will then be selected as the final contenders by the time all categories get unveiled on January 22, 2008.
The list includes such crowd-pleaser titles such as Disney/Pixar's "Ratatouille", Sony Pictures Animation's "Surf's Up", and 20th Century Fox's "The Simpsons Movie" as well as DreamWorks Animation's "Shrek the Third" and "Bee Movie." The rest seven are "Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters", "Meet the Robinsons", "Tekkonkinkreet", "TMNT", "Alvin and the Chipmunks", "Beowulf", and "Persepolis."

Jason Lee Gets Entertained By "Alvin and the Chipmunks"
March 08, 2007 03:03:31Being the first major actor to come to the project, Jason Lee has reached deals to have a starring slot in CG/live-action hybrid flick "Alvin and the Chipmunks", a Fox 2000 and Fox Animation production.
Based on the 1950s cartoon series about three chipmunks named Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, the project has been entrusted into the hands of "Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties" helmer Tim Hill who will direct from a script penned by Jon Vitti. Lee reportedly will play David Seville, the human confidant of the title characters.

January 25, 2007 02:01:21Seems Tim Hill does not have to wait long enough to land his next directing stint after last year's "Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties." Variety has learned that the guy is currently engaged in negotiations to helm CG-live action hybrid flick "Alvin and the Chipmunks" for Fox 2000 and Fox Animation.
Developed under Fox since 2004, the project is based on the 1960s cartoon series "The Alvin Show" which tells about a music group of chipmunks comprised of Alvin, the mischievous troublemaker; Simon, the tall bespectacled intellectual; and Theodore, the chubby, impressionable sweetheart.
