'The Love Guru' Sweeps 2009 Razzies
February 22, 2009 11:02:19Golden Raspberry Award Foundation has announced the "winners" of their 29th Annual Razzie Awards on Saturday February 21, and "The Love Guru" came out in front of the pack, nabbing the most kudos on the night. Nominated for five categories, the Marco Schnabel-directed film landed three titles, including Worst Picture.
For the Worst Picture throphy, "Guru" won over "Disaster Movie", "Meet the Spartans", "The Happening", "The Hottie and the Nottie" and "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale". Aside from that award, the comedy movie also grabbed Worst Actor for its leading star Mike Myers and Worst Screenplay for both Myers and Graham Gordy.

January 22, 2009 09:01:42On Wednesday, January 21, a day before Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveil their nominees for the 81st Annual Academy Awards, Golden Raspberry Award Foundation have come out with their selection of contenders for the 29th Annual Razzie Awards. Among the nominees, "Disaster Movie" seems to be the awards early favorite as it was given six gongs, including Worst Picture.
Collecting also Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, Worst Director(s) and Worst Screenplay, the Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's comedy was nominated alongside "Meet the Spartans", "The Happening", "The Hottie and the Nottie", "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale" and "The Love Guru" in the Worst Picture category. Beside those counts, it also nabbed two Worst Supporting Actress nods for Carmen Electra and Kim Kardashian.
'Austin Powers' Star Mike Myers Recruited for Quentin Tarantino's 'Basterds'

It is further explained that the "Austin Powers" star has been tapped for a small role in the action drama movie from acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.
The 45-year-old is going to portray British General Ed Fenech who is described to be a military mastermind taking part in planning the scheme to kill the Nazi leaders. He will be joining Brad Pitt who will star as Lieutenant Aldo Raine and Eli Roth who is tapped to be Sgt. Donnie Donowitz. This tidbit was first reported by Tarantino Archives.

Few months back, actor Seth Green who played Dr. Evil's son in the "Austin Powers" film series put off the rumor stating that the fourth installment is merely a suggestion. Words are "Austin Powers" star Mike Myers is currently teaming up once again with "Baby Mama" scribbler Mike McCullers in penning down the idea for the fourth movie. The awards show, which was held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, honored the best movies, and some good TV shows. Singer-songwriter and actress Vanessa Williams, who served as host, sang "I'm Flying" from the 2003 adventure flick "Peter Pan."

On Wednesday, April 9, Van Toffler, the president of MTV Networks Music, Logo and Films Group, revealed that the actor known for his alter ego, the British super-spy Austin Powers, has been tapped to be the host of the 17th Annual MTV Movie Awards.
On the choosing of the voice talent behind animation character Shrek in "Shrek" franchise, Toffler reasoned that Myers has managed to bring his best the last time he hosted the event. "Mike Myers blew us away last time he hosted the MTV Movie Awards with his 'Lord of the Dance' and over-the-top musical productions," said the MTV topper in a statement. "He keeps creating iconic film characters that have been etched in the minds of MTV's audiences forever. 'The Love Guru' is sure to spur yet another cultural movement, so we're elated to have Mike back as our host."

Summer sure is still a great period to celebrate an award event and for young generation of moviegoers, it's undoubtedly the time to once again get to know who and what come out as the best at MTV Movie Awards this year, held Sunday, June 3 at Universal City's Gibson Amphitheatre.
Taking the spotlight during the ceremony was Walt Disney Pictures' "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" which not only got deemed Best Movie, but also won its lead star Johnny Depp the Best Performance honor. However, the big winner turned out to be Sacha Baron Cohen as the British actor triumphantly swept two golden popcorns in Best Comedic Performance for "Borat" and Best Kiss for "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby", the latter being shared with fellow funnyman Will Ferrell.

Apparently not feeling enough of having three installments of "Austin Powers", Mike Myers is keen to bring back the comic spy agent to the big screen as the follow-up to the 2002's "Austin Powers in Goldmember."
The funnyman recently told SCI FI Wire that he is working on plan to make another "Austin" flick with the focus being on his nemesis instead.

The morning on Sunday, May 6 became blindingly bright as a number of Hollywood celebrities cheerfully walked down the green carpet to attend the world premiere of "Shrek the Third", the latest installment of the kind-hearted ogre tale slated for a theatrical release on May 18.
Original voice cast members delightfully gathered with the new ones to attend the event with cameras whirring and reporters posing questions endlessly, but it was former hot couple Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake who gained most attention there since the screening marked the first major media event at which they've been photographed together since the breakup.

Mike Myers sure knows how to keep himself busy for months ahead. The New York Times has revealed that the funnyman has already had three new film projects in his hand which include two comedies about a relationship guru and office worker under siege by robots also a drama revolving around Keith Moon, known as the deceased drummer of The Who.
Among these three, the first one seems to be Myers' priority at the moment as his agent, David O'Connor, has openly stated that there were two completed drafts of the script along with advanced discussions with Paramount Pictures and the possibility of sequels.

It is the second year in a row that Canadian Business magazine reveals its annual Celebrity Power List. It is an annual ranking of the most powerful Canadians in Hollywood, based on four factors which are estimated salary, press clippings, number of Google hits and number of TV appearances.
Top the list at No. 1 is actor Jim Carrey whose improved web scores and a bump in the TV category put him ahead of Pamela Anderson at 2nd place after her sitcom "Stacked" was cancelled. Rounding out the Top 5 are Keanu Reeves, Kiefer Sutherland, and Montreal-born actor William Shatner.

DreamWorks Animation announced Thursday July 13th, that the final cast for its upcoming computer-animated comedy "Shrek the Third" has been set. The studio will keep maintaining the flick's original cast from "Shrek" and "Shrek 2", Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Rupert Everett, Julie Andrews and John Cleese.
Joining the cast for "Shrek the Third" is an all-new ensemble of actors and comedians. They among others are Amy Sedaris as Cinderella, Amy Poehler as Snow White, Maya Rudolph as Rapunzel and Cheri Oteri as Sleeping Beauty. Also joining the hit animated comedy's cast are Ian McShane as Captain Hook, John Krasinski as Sir Lancelot, and Monty Python veteran Eric Idle as Merlin the magician.

Myers and Ruzan, a writer and actress, tied the knot in May 1993 and have no children together. No details given for the reason behind their split.
