Nicole Kidman and Ralph Fiennes are both set to star in The Weinstein Company's adaptation of Bernhard Schlink's bestselling novel "The Reader."
Forging their first on-screen collaboration, Nicole Kidman and Ralph Fiennes have both given their agreement to topline drama feature "The Reader" which The Weinstein Company is developing at its pit.
An adaptation of the German writer Bernhard Schlink bestselling novel, pic takes place in contemporary Germany and concerns a man who recounts the story of his erotic awakening in a covert love affair with an older woman in the wake of WWII. Stephen Daldry is plotted to direct from script by David Hare with shooting to be commenced late September in Berlin.
Meanwhile, Mirage Productions partners Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack will both handle producing matters alongside Scott Rudin. For the former one, the project thereby will mark his reunion with Kidman and Fiennes after "Cold Mountain" and "The English Patient", respectively.
