New Line Cinema Brewing New York State of Mind

Exploring the life in Big Apple, New Line Cinema is on the process to develop a new big screen feature from a script by Margaret Nagle entitled "New York State of Mind", Variety has revealed.

Described as a fantastical love story, the project will be filmed entirely in the titular city with Arnold and Anne Kopelson both handling producing matters. The husband-and-wife team currently are prepping "Killing on Carnival Row" also for New Line, the first stint they do since the 2004 thriller "Twisted."

R.E.M., Three Quarters to Album Completion

R.E.M. is in near completion of their new album and judging from the progress they are in, Spring should be the release date. Bass player Mike Mills said that they are "two-thirds to three-quarters of the way through" but refused to reveal more.

Apart from materials that they played during live shows suggesting a hard-rock theme, Mills is not giving any direct clue regarding their record to hinder expectation. The band "made an agreement we weren't going to say what it is or not because we don't want to have expectations out there in any direction. But, of course, you can go on YouTube and listen to some of the Dublin shows and get a pretty good idea of where we're going."

Justice League of America Casting Buzz

Looks like talks about "Justice League of America" now are focusing on the cast lineup after those about whether the project will be motion capture flick that circulated for the past few days.

Again coming from IESB.net, words have it that a number of prominent Hollywood names are being planned to round out the cast. Among those being eyed reportedly are Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel with Mel Gibson tipped for Maxwell Lord, Bruce Willis as Lex Luthor, Scarlett Johansson as Talia Al Ghul, and Laurence Fishburne as the Martian Manhunter.

The Smashing Pumpkins, Kanye West Headlining Bang!

The biggest acts representing two music genres are going to headline this year's Bang! Music Festival. Kanye West and The Smashing Pumpkins are on to rock the stage placed at Miami's Bayfront Park Amphitheater.

Due to good response and growing numbers of acts, the festival has been modified to a two-day festival that starts November 10 and ends a day later. Approximately thirty acts have been prepared as the lineup, some confirmed are Riverboat Gamblers, Automatic Loveletter, The Bravery, and Kevens. The first two acts will join West on the first day while the remaining two will share stage with Pumpkins on the last day.

41st CMA Awards Give Brad Paisley and George Strait 5 Nods Each

Country Music Association Awards members have found musicians eligible to be seated at the nominations list this year. Those gaining their attention most are Brad Paisley and George Strait who earn 5 nods each.

Paisley and Strait are competing in 4 same categories: Single of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year. Paisley alone is up for Music Video of the Year through 'Online' while Strait is running for Musical Event of the Year sharing with Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson.

Zoe Saldana Tipped as Lt. Uhura in Star Trek?

Casting has already begun on male actors for the highly-anticipated "Star Trek" with the inclusions of Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, and Anton Yelchin, but how about that on the female side?

According to TrekMovie.com, attempts appear to have been made on the matter as it has learned from sources close to the production that Zoe Saldana has been offered the role of Lt. Uhura, the USS Enterprise’s communications officer. However, the site does careful to state that "the deal is not yet final", which it points out to possibly be due to the actress' schedule in James Cameron's "Avatar."

Carrie Underwood has found a perfect title for her sophomore set, 'Carnival Ride'. The country singer finds the term having a great metaphor that is apt to describe her life in the past few years.

"You step onto this ride called life, and it's a crazy thing you don't know anything about, but you get on it anyway," Carrie explained. "You do what you can to lean different directions to try and get it to go where you want it to go, but you can't stop it - it just keeps moving. That's why Carnival Ride works as my album title, because it describes the wonderful craziness that I've been through over the past couple years."

Delta Goodrem speaks up. The Australian singer-songwriter breaks her silence and has spoken candidly about her cancer battle and her being labeled as a "home wrecker" that played part in the divorce of her boyfriend Brian McFadden and his wife Kerry Katona.

"I just shook," when being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a form of cancer, in 2003, at the age of 18, Goodrem told Andrew Denton of the ABC television program "Enough Rope." "I shook for the next 24 hours, 48 hours and I just burst into tears obviously and I was petrified."

It takes just a matter of days to leak Britney Spears' new single. Earlier this week, the singer's label Jive hinted that 'Gimme More' would be the title of her official single and now not only does it leak but also another new track called 'Cold as Fire'.

'Gimme More' is slated to be the first single taken from Britney's upcoming album which is said to be drawn back to the end of this year. The up-tempo cut, that was produced by Timbaland's protege Danjahandz, is expected to be performed in this year's MTV Music Video Awards as part of her 'surprise' appearance.

Owen Wilson's Lawyer Denied Reports of Drugs Overdose

Owen Wilson is receiving care and heal in private at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and his attorney meanwhile set the record straight on the actor's suicide attempt which has raised public speculation from drugs overdose to slit wrists.

Insisted Owen didn't overdose on drugs, his attorney told "Access Hollywood" the actor did slit his wrists instead. Put the brake on the false drugs overdose report, the lawyer confirmed Owen did not have his stomach pumped and had been taking anti-depressants with no any other drugs found in his system at the time of the suicide attempt.

The soccer god hurt his right knee Wednesday night August 29th playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy Major League Soccer team against Pachuca of Mexico in the Super Liga final, just two weeks after he made his highly anticipated debut for the L.A. Galaxy after being benched for nearly a month for a left ankle injury.

The English midfielder was injured in a tackle with Pachuca midfielder Fernando Salazar in the first half of Wednesday night's SuperLiga title match, in which the Galaxy lost 4-3 on penalty kicks. Underwent an MRI exam on Thursday August 20th it is confirmed Beckham had suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee and was ruled out for about six weeks.
