"Valkyrie" Planned to Hit August 8, 2008

With production starting on Monday, July 16 in Germany, what's left as a question on "Valkyrie" now is certainly its release date in theaters and apparently, the execs at United Artists were quick enough to pick it up.

According to ComingSoon.net, the studio has come up with intention to launch the WWII thriller on August 8, 2008, during which several other big screen titles are also set to grace the audience. Among those scheduled for the same release day are New Line Cinema's "Journey 3-D", Walt Disney Pictures' "South of the Border", and Columbia Pictures' comedy "The Pineapple Express."

Rihanna's "Umbrella" Begins #1 Ninth Week in UK Chart

When Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" was released in March 2006 and remained at #1 in U.K. Singles chart for nine weeks, everybody thought that it was the ultimate song of the decade. However, it was recently broken by Rihanna's infectious hit "Umbrella" featuring Jay-Z.

"Umbrella" is enjoying its ninth week atop the U.K. chart while maintaining its #1 post in U.S. Billboard's Hot 100 chart at the same time. The song holds strong to its position despite the big jumpers in the U.K. chart.

Jared Leto and Sarah Polley See "Nobody"

Ready to make a great pair together, Jared Leto and Sarah Polley have both landed deals to highlight a new romantic drama entitled "Mr. Nobody" that Belgian filmmaker Jaco Van Dormael is set to direct from his own script.

Described as a multilayered love story inspired by the "butterfly effect", the flick is set in the not-so-distant future and revolves around Leto's character Nemo Nobody who, at 120 years old, is the last mortal surrounded by happy immortals as he relives his real and imaginary years of marriage. Polley is learned to play a woman named Elise with Juno Temple, Linh Dan Pham, and Toby Regbo co-starring.

Two-Face's Appearance in "Knight" Confirmed

Ultimately brings answer to the question surrounding his character in "The Dark Knight", Aaron Eckhart, who plays district attorney Harvey Dent in the highly-anticipated project, has revealed for the first time to MTV News that he will also appear as Dent's alter ego Two Face in it.

"I play Harvey Dent. Harvey Two-Face. They are both in the movie," so the actor confirmed.

Success after success keep hitting "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" following its wide release earlier this month. Reigning both domestic and international box-office charts, the teen wizard tale now is creating another sensation by virtually shattering every opening box office record at IMAX screens, IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures announced Monday, July 16.

Contributing $7.3 million of the $140 million that it grossed at the domestic box office throughout July 11-15, pic not only breaks the largest five-day opening record, but also those of IMAX's largest single day worldwide total with $1.9 million and biggest opening per screen average of $80,500. More to say, the movie satisfyingly sets a record-smashing worldwide estimated total of $9.4 million after becoming the largest opening in IMAX's 40-year history, being released on 91 domestic and 35 international IMAX screens.

Lily Allen Spends Fall Touring in U.S.

After canceling some U.S shows in April, Lily Allen will be back in the country for a short fall tour in compensation. The "Smile" singer will swing to the States starting from September 6 at the prestigious San Diego's House of Blues.

Her U.S. jaunt is preceded by a worldwide tour that will include stops in Australia, Japan, Chile, Argentina and some European countries. R&B singer Kevin Michael will be tapped as the opening act of her U.S. dates.

Weinstein Co. Goes "Mad"

Conducting one of its first attempts at book-film synergy, The Weinstein Co. is on its track to develop "The Mad Ones" based on an as-yet-unwritten tome from author Tom Folsom of which film and TV rights it has successfully optioned.

The book, slated for a 2009 release, is said to tell about the notorious Gallo brothers, who, in the 1960s, attempted a revolt against the Profaci crime family of which they were a part. Weinstein Co. has described the project, which also examines the downtown counterculture in which the brothers dabbled, to be a "collision of a classic crime story and pop culture portrait of the turbulent '60s."

Kellie Pickler to Perform Sentimental Song on ABC

After premiering her song "I Wonder" in The View, Kellie Pickler will have it performed on ABC's Good Morning show. The second single from the country singer's debut album will be the opening of a two-hour special that is aired July 23.

To be played after Kellie's performance is "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock", a four-day event that was held back on June 7-10. Within the tape, there will be Kellie's performance on first single "Red High Heels" and also by others such as Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Rodney Atkins, Dierks Bentley, Billy Currington and Sara Evans.

Alicia Witt Joining the Squad of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent"

Guess what? Alicia Witt is added to the cast of the drama series "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" which is moving from NBC to USA Network in the fall.

NBC Universal's cable stable announced her tapping Monday July 16th at the Television Critics Assn.'s final cable session, confirmed further that the American film, stage and television actress will be a temporary replacement for Julianne Nicholson, who is on maternity leave, playing the role of police detective Nola Falacci, who will be partnered with detective Mike Logan, played by Chris Noth.

Trisha Yearwood's New Single Hitting Radios

Country singer Trisha Yearwood is pulling "Heaven, Heartache And The Power Of Love" as the first single from her new album. The song, that becomes her first in two years, has been released to country radio outlets on Monday (July 16).

Although some radios have already the pleasure of playing the song, the official airplay release is only set on July 30. "Heaven, Heartache And The Power Of Love" is part of Trisha's new not-yet-titled album that is produced by Garth Fundis.

Finally landing his studio debut, John Carney, the director of the Sundance prize-winning film "Once", has signed on to helm comedy flick "Town House" which Fox 2000 is currently setting up at its pit.

An adaptation of the Tish Cohen novel, project focuses on the son of a deceased rock legend who runs out of money after living off his father's royalties for years. Forced to sell the townhouse the musician left him, the imminent sale, however, leads the man to come to terms with himself and his role as a father to a teenage son.

Dehydrated Kelly Rowland Fainted on Stage

Kelly Rowland has collapsed on stage while performing under extreme heat on Sunday (July 15). The ex-Destiny's Child was holding a show in Lagos, Nigeria for West African Nation's ThisDay Music Festival when she fainted.

Kelly was quickly rushed to hospital whereupon she was diagnosed with dehydration. She has since been discharged from the hospital and her publicist Yvette Noel-Schure said that she is already in "good condition".

Finding each other boarding the same project again after the upcoming "Man-Witch", screenwriters Josh Stolberg and Robert Florsheim are teaming up once more to pen for Paramount Pictures' comedy "The Spellman Files", Variety has reported.

Based on Liza Lutz's book of the same name, pic centers on a single private investigator who has to juggle the demands of running her family's business and the needs of her extended family as well as her dating life.
