Jay Roach Sparks Laughs at Warner Bros.

Known to be skilled in delivering laughs as he did on "Austin Powers" series and "Meet the Parents" plus its sequel, Jay Roach is reportedly in charge to direct an untitled original comedy project for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Rights to develop the flick have successfully been obtained by the company from Ken Kaufman, who last penned Universal Pictures' animated adventure "Curious George." Apart from taking helming duties, Roach will also serve as the producer alongside his Everyman Pictures partner Jennifer Perini.

The Flaming Lips Appears for 2007 Monolith Fest

Still in the first cycle, Monolith Festival has lined up a number of renowned names to lift the festival's reputation. Considerably a magnificent line up, the festival has The Flaming Lips, Cake, Spoon and Kings of Leon for a start.

The two-nights event that will be held September 14-15 at Red Rock Amphitheatre, Denver also has moderately interesting combination such as The Decemberists, Das EFX, Earl Greyhound, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Ghostland Observatory, Juliette and The Licks and also William Elliott Whitmore.

Trio Making "Victory" Lap

Slated to band together as a good onscreen team, Carla Gugino, David Boreanaz, and Ellen Burstyn are all coming to highlight an indie sports drama titled "Our Lady of Victory", Variety has learned.

Flick presents the story the Immaculata College women's basketball team as it rose from loser status to victory in the 1972 National Women's Collegiate Championship. Gugino will play the coach while Boreanaz is set to portray her husband.

John McTiernan Is on the "Run"

Still gravitating toward action genre, "Die Hard" director John McTiernan has secured deals to helm a thriller action simply entitled "Run" which "Pathfinder" star Karl Urban is about to topline.

Budgeted at $30 million, the project will find Urban portraying an Interpol agent who, while pursuing a murder suspect, unearths a fraud conspiracy. Script reportedly contains one hundred pages of car chases.

Alejandro Sanz Pushed Back Tour to Rest

Alejandro Sanz's visit to U.S. for a tour has to be postponed since the Grammy awards winning singer is following doctor's order. His doctor in Spain required him to take an absolute rest after an exhausting tour in Latin America.

This pushed back schedule will begin again in November with details and additional shows following to be announced. So far the June concerts at Gibson Amphitheater, Los Angeles has been rescheduled to November 16-17. After that he will perform in San Diego on November 21 and continue it to El Paso, McAllen, Dallas and Houston on November 23-30.

Two Hear the "Scream"

Eagerly spilling more information about his helming debut project, "The I Scream Man", director J.T. Mollner has revealed to ShockTillYouDrop.com that both Michael Madsen and Dee Wallace have just signed on to join the cast of the horror feature.

Madsen, best known for his performance in "Reservoir Dogs", is said to fill in the role of Ronny Gop originally set to be played by Tom Sizemore, who was dropped out of the flick due to his arrest for drugs possession earlier this month. Meanwhile, Wallace will be billed to be the mother of Haylie Duff's character Lynda Stichin.

It turns out that Destiny's Child is not so deeply buried after all. Member Kelly Rowland makes sure that the group will get back together again and perform, someday.

"We listen to each other's songs and offer constructive criticism," Rowland said. "We went our separate ways because we're getting older and have different personal goals. But we might get back together one day. For now, we're giving each other space."

Telling MTV News he said, "I already recorded 10 tracks for my next album, Before I Self-Destruct, and that record will come out February 4th. So Curtis (is released) June 26th, (Before I Self-Destruct) February 4th... and then they're gonna put out a greatest hits album but my album requirements are completed."

Fox Pulls "Walter Mitty" to the Surface Again

Lending hands to the stalled project, 20th Century Fox has launched "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" back into development after it was put into turnaround back in October 2005, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The project, a remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye classic, initially was set up at Paramount Pictures banner and had already had Marks Waters to direct and Owen Wilson to star, but sadly put into shelf when the studio was unable to find a proper female lead to play opposite Wilson.

According to Playbill, the ghost characters intended to be featured in the movie have been cut from the reels, including one portrayed by veteran actor Christopher Lee, the Gentleman Ghost. DreamWorks SKG as the company producing the musical thriller drama reportedly has confirmed the information.

For what could be the most anticipated joint act, Velvet Revolver and Alice in Chains have decided to hit the road together for a summer tour. The two huge names in rock industry will shake the stages in U.S. and Canada until fall.

"They're good friends of ours, and obviously they have amazing songs," Velvet frontman Scott Weiland said upon Alice. "People have been saying the shows were amazing, and they were drawing some pretty big crowds, so we figured it would be kind of a cool gig. It would be fun to watch them play every night and listen to those songs."

The Doors Releasing Rare Live Audio CD

Little did people acknowledge The Doors' show in Boston more than 35 years ago, the legendary band is now making the audio available for sale. A three-CD set is going to be released with personal commentaries from the surviving members.

The rare footage is taken from the band's part-of-the-tour-show back on April 30, 1970 at Boston Arena. The tour was the last that the band did before vocalist Jim Morrison moved to France and died there in 1971. Some of the live tunes have been made available in their "Absolutely Live" album but personal memories were not included then.

Adopting the strategy made by Sony toward its "Spider-Man 3", Warner Bros. Pictures has also chosen the city of Tokyo, Japan as its destination in marking the world premiere of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" on June 28.

A spokeswoman for the studio in Tokyo has even claimed that star Daniel Radcliffe would head for the city to attend the event, which is scheduled ahead of the movie's London showing on July 3.

The funnyman's publicist confirmed the birth to People on Tuesday May 22nd, saying the newly born, named Evan Jane Heder, is "safe and sound and healthy." Other details, including the date of birth, were not given.

In the video that presents the work of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" director Michel Gondry and actress Natalie Portman, mandolin plays a huge part. Oprah Winfrey was left "devastated," again, that her close one plans to sell her story to public. First it was her relative that sold her secrets to a tabloid, and just now the talk show host was stunned as she learnt that her father is planning to write a book about her.

To make matter worse, Oprah learned about the memoir not from her dad, Vernon Winfrey, but from a gossip column. She testified that she laughed when one of her assistants told her that New York's Daily News was calling to ask about a book her father was writing. "I said, 'That's impossible. I can assure them it's not true,'" she said.

Rachel Weisz Cares About "Luna"

Keeps working on serious roles, Rachel Weisz reportedly has given her agreement to topline eco drama "Luna" that Deepa Mehta is set to direct for Baldwin Entertainment Group.

Inspired by a true life account of an American environmentalist named Julia Hill, the picture will depict the story of the woman, to be played by Weisz, when she came up to a resolution to live in a 1000-year-old redwood tree for 738 days in order to prevent loggers from cutting it down. Hill ultimately forced the lumber company to not only save the ancient tree, which she called "Luna", but also all trees in her area.

Robert Rodriguez Lays Hand on "Barbarella"

The reins apparently are no longer hold by Peter Webber. Variety has brought in quite surprising news telling Robert Rodriguez, fresh from "Grindhouse", is coming onboard to take helming duties on "Barbarella", which Webber was supposed to direct following reports on him being hired to perform the task back in February.

A remake of the 1968 sci-fi adventure of the same title starring Jane Fonda as the titular character, the project is said to present a different concept from the original in depicting the heroine, putting her as a modern woman surviving in a futuristic world through her intelligence, fighting skills, and sexuality instead.

Rapper Eve Pleaded Not Guilty to Drunken Driving

Eve is free. The rapper was pleaded not guilty Tuesday May 22nd to two drunken driving-related charges stemmed from last month accident during which she crashed her Maserati into a cement divider in Hollywood Blvd.

The Grammy-winning rapper was arrested April 26th on suspicion of DUI after she crashed her Maserati into a divider on Hollywood Boulevard at about 2:40 a.m. She had been formally charged with driving under the influence and driving with a .08 blood alcohol level or higher.

Hughes Brothers Keeping the "Book of Eli"

Looks like Allen and Albert Hughes will have something else in marking their return to the directing field instead of "Kung Fu", which the two have already been assigned to helm together since last November.

Variety has learned that the brothers are expected to do first a post-apocalyptic drama entitled "Book of Eli" that Warner Bros. Pictures is set to develop under its banner. The pair last performed helming duties on the 2001 thriller "From Hell", made based on the graphic novel of the same name by writer Alan Moore and artist Eddie Campbell.

Supporting tidbit made by LatinoReview.com earlier this month about the cast addition for "Valkyrie", Variety has revealed that Kenneth Branagh is indeed joining Tom Cruise to star in the project, Bryan Singer's WWII thriller set up at United Artists.

Based on true story, the picture centers on real-life Nazi officer Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg who, along with several others, carried out the famous assassination attempt on Hitler in July 1944. Branagh is said to portray a German general who mentors Cruise's character and hatches the military coup plan.

American Idol Judge Paula Abdul Breaks Her Nose

Talking about bad luck, Paula Abdul experienced it when she broke her nose over the weekend, just days before the season finale of "American Idol."

The judge was trying to avoid stepping on her pet chihuahua Saturday May 19th at home and fell, breaking her nose and toe, while tore her cartilage as well. Her publicist David Brokaw confirmed the incident, saying "She went to the doctor and she did break her nose, but she's moving on and doing great. She looks terrific. The movie beauty said Tuesday May 22nd while promoting "A Mighty Heart" at the Cannes Film Festival, "I'm working this summer. I'm in Prague for a few months, then I take two months off, then I work for two months. And then I take a year off."
