"Janis" Starts Shaping on November 13

Though the cast has not yet been completed, a date turns out to have been set for Peter Newman Productions' "Gospel According to Janis" to start filming production. Relying on Penelope Spheeris to direct, the biopic feature of legendary singer Janis Joplin is reported to finally begin rolling the camera on November 13 this year in Philadelphia with "Almost Famous" star Zooey Deschanel playing the title role.

In her preparation for the part, Deschanel has persistently spent four months being trained under a vocal coach to prepare to sing with Janis Joplin's gritty style. The actress previously beat down the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Pink, and Britney Spears to gain the coveted role.

Taylor Hanson, the middle brother in the band Hanson, is doing daddyhood again. The singer and his wife, Natalie, welcomed the arrival of their third child Monday September 4th, the band announced on its official Web site.

The new addition to the family, a baby boy, was born in Tulsa, Okla and named River Samuel Hanson. "River is an incredible addition to our family. We could not be happier!" Taylor said on his newborn son.

An amazing breakthrough has truly been made concerning the making of Tom Hanks-produced "My Life in Ruins." The movie will be the first feature in 2,500 years to use The Acropolis in Greece as its setting following the green light given by the country's archaeological council to feature the historical site in its scenes.

According to Britain's Guardian newspaper, it turns out that it was the star of the flick, Nia Vardalos, who had herself lobbied the officials to obtain the permission. Vardalos, a Canadian-born actress of Greek descent, is reported to have reached a deal on the matters after making her way to convince them that this could be an effective tool to increase tourism while promising that the ancient monument would be treated with respect.

John Dahl's latest directorial work of "You Kill Me" finally can make its way to commercial theatres. The dark comedy feature has been picked up by IFC Films to be distributed around cinemas in summer 2007, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Featuring stellar cast consisting of Ben Kingsley, Tea Leoni, and Luke Wilson, the movie follows an alcoholic hit man, played by Kingsley, as he lands a job at a mortuary when coming to California in order to take a break from his bad habits. There he meets and undergoes a romantic relationship with the wild stepdaughter (Leoni) of a corpse he's embalming.

Country Crooner Willie Nelson Cited for Marijuana Possession

Veteran musician Willie Nelson created abuzz among public worldwide when he and several of his bandmates were cited for drug possession early Monday Sept 18th, 2006 when his tour bus was stopped in Saint Martin Parish, Louisiana.

Per Willie Williams of the Louisiana Highway Patrol, the country music crooner and his entourage were traveling along Highway 10 when "The tour bus was stopped on a common interstate vehicle inspection, and when the trooper approached the bus door a strong odor of marijuana was detected". A further search of the bus, moreover, found 1 pounds of marijuana and slightly more than three ounces of narcotic mushrooms.

The executives at Picturehouse now can really draw a big smile on their mouths. The company has wonderfully gained North American distribution rights to biopic feature of "El Cantante" starring Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.

Spending almost $6 million to reach the deal, Picturehouse therefore beats down fellow competitors of Miramax, Focus Features, and the Weinstein Co to the punch. The studio is planning a July 2007 release for the movie.

Drawing one more big screen stint into her resume, "24" star Aisha Tyler has given her agreement to take a starring role in vigilante drama "Death Sentence", a new project from 20th Century Fox and Hyde Park Entertainment.

Playing opposite Kevin Bacon, Tyler will portray a homicide detective who assists Bacon's character while she herself actually has growing suspicions that he might have committed murder. James Wan is on duty to direct with Ian Jeffers penning the script.
