On board to generate spookiness among the audience, Virginia Madsen has signed on to star in supernatural thriller "A Haunting in Connecticut" which is being set up under Gold Circle Films banner for Mandate Pictures to handle its international sales.
Reportedly based on a true story, the project focuses on a family who gets forced to relocate near a clinic where their teenage son is being treated for cancer. Much to their surprise, the home they rent turns out to be a former mortuary with a dark history that might account for the extraordinary manifestations of the boy's illness and the supernatural events that threaten the family.

Here Broderick will portray a man who experiences memory loss after being hit on the head while Alda is billed as his Alzheimer's-addled uncle and Madsen his high school sweetheart. Story will revolve around the threesome as they take a trip to a memorabilia show in order to sell a rare baseball card.
Virginia Mad About "The Number 23"
January 18, 2006 03:01:04Following Elisabeth Shue stepping down from "The Number 23" due to the fact that she's pregnant, Virginia Madsen is currently in talks to secure her role. If only the deal is reached, the actress will then play the role of Jim Carrey's wife in the psychological thriller from director Joel Schumacher.
New Line Cinema reportedly has previously talked to Aussie actress Nicole Kidman to replace Shue. Unfortunately, a deal was never reached because of scheduling conflicts. Thus, with Madsen concerns to star in, the film will keep its shooting schedule still for Monday Jan 23rd in Los Angeles.
