'Duplicity' Goes to New York for U.S. Premiere
March 17, 2009 02:03:46Counting down days to the theatrical opening of "Duplicity" in the U.S., Universal Pictures took it to Ziegfeld Theater for the U.S. premiere for the drama thriller film. Held on Monday night, March 16, the special event was attended by some of the movie stars, including Julia Roberts, Clive Owen, Tom McCarthy, Denis O'Hare, Carrie Preston and Paul Giamatti.
Aside from posing for the press line upon their arrival, several of them made time to answer questions on the red carpet. Asked by USA Today "who would win in a battle of wits", Owen suggested that his co-star Roberts would win, saying "She would, because she's very smart." Roberts, who was wrapped in Christian Dior on the evening, could not agree more of the remark, saying "I would. It's just me. I have my tricks."

She has won at the recent Golden Globes for similar role in HBO's miniseries "John Adams". His announcement comes right after Alec Baldwin claims his prize as Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy for "30 Rock".
With Paul's win, "John Adams" has so far received three nods at the 66th annual event which is held at The Beverly Hilton and aired live by NBC. Earlier, Laura Linney won the title of Best Performance by an Actress in Miniseries while the HBO production itself was granted Best Miniseries. HBO, in total, earn 3 from "John Adams", 1 from "In Treament", 1 from "True Blood" and another one from "Recount".

December 27, 2008 09:12:40Several pictures have emerged of Paul Giamatti, playing as himself, on the upcoming comedy-drama "Cold Souls." Some of the pics, made public by First Showing, see the star in what looks like a laboratory and also a pole.
In the Journeyman Pictures' flick, Paul Giamatti portrays the character of a famous American actor who during an existential crisis decides to explore "soul extraction" as a relief from the burdens of daily life. "Cold Souls," written and directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Sophie Barthes, will be premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, which will run beginning from January 15, 2009 to January 25, 2009.

The 60th annual awards event, which is set to be aired live on ABC from NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE, Los Angeles on September 21 later this year, witnessed HBO's miniseries "John Adams" nabbed a leading 23 nominations, namely Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for its star Paul Giamatti and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for Laura Linney just to name a few.

Both going for a smaller scale in their next move, Paul Giamatti and Emily Mortimer are poised to topline an indie comedy entitled "Pretty Bird" which actor Paul Schneider is set to direct, JoBlo has reported.
In the project, Giamatti is said to play a lovable loser who intends to invent a rocket belt in hopes that it will make him famous. Keen to reach his goal, he then enlists help from some of his friends -- only they succeed, and subsequently begin to turn on one another. Meanwhile, Mortimer will be billed to portray a young woman named Mandy who serves as the Director of Marketing for their rocket belt operation.
Paul Giamatti Reaching Out to Play Philip K. Dick

Sets to produce a biopic on sci-fi author Philip K. Dick through his newly established Touchy Feely Films, Paul Giamatti is likely to also take a starring role in the project as well. The actor is reported by Variety to be in talks to portray the writer who passed away on March 2, 1982 due to heart failure after he was disconnected from life support following a stroke.
Along with Touchy Feely Films, Anonymous Content will also produce alongside the Philip K. Dick Estate through its Electric Shepherd Productions with Tony Grisoni writing the screenplay. The picture itself will interweave Dick's life with his fiction and incorporate elements of his last unfinished novel, "The Owl in Daylight."

"The Last Station" probably won't be the last destination moviegoers head for if they put their priority on seeing Anthony Hopkins, Meryl Streep, and Paul Giamatti sharing the screen together. Production Weekly has reported that the three stars have given their agreement to join forces in this latest project of Michael Hoffman, an adaptation of Jay Parini's novel of the same title.
All lauded thespians in Hollywood, Hopkins was last seen in "The World's Fastest Indian" while Streep in "A Prairie Home Companion" which still circulates around U.S theatres and Giamatti in "Cinderella Man" as manager also good friend of Russell Crowe's Jim Braddock. Meanwhile, Hoffman has been known for his directorial works in "Restoration" (1995) and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (1999) among others.
