After touring and promoting for close to two years, the band decided it was time to begin writing songs for their next album. In the process of writing their album, twins Benji and Joel were offered a deal with MTV to host a new music show called "All Things Rock." They signed the deal and the show premiered in September of 2002. The two of them would host the show in the New York studio as well as on the road with them.

When the contract already came to an end, Good Charlotte headed back into the studio. Right when they wanted to do so, a problem arose. The band's drummer, Aaron, decided to leave the band because after almost three years with the band he had enough and now he wanted to join the band Wakefield with his brother, Ryan. Therefore, he was replaced with Dusty, who was just a temporary drummer and had left the band before the recording of their second album. After the ups and downs during three months of recording, the album dubbed "The Young and The Hopeless" was ready and soon released on September 12, 2003. To compare with the band's first album, this one did a more incredible with sales. It sold thousands of copies the day it was released. Hence, Good Charlotte began going on tour again and creating more music videos. During that time, the band finally found their present drummer Chris Willson who agreed to complete their formation. The band later shot their first video "The Anthem" with Chris in January of 2003. By 2005, they've been together for nine years and are still doing tours and working on their next album.
